I tried to use the BP Pulse in the IOW but it only worked when I used the app. So far the Fordpass stuff has not worked for me.

Good grief...

Just had a call from my dealer. My MME will be with them later this week and I'll be able to pick it up later the following week. It arrived at Dagenham last Wednesday.

The time line has been-

ordered 23/04/21
built during 1st week of June
arrived at Antwerp 17/07/21
arrived at Dagenham 11/07/21

They seem to have got a wiggle on!
wow that's amazing.

I just looked at my timeline
ordered 25th July
shipped 28th June
arrived 16th July
got an email that it had arrived in European port 8th august.

what was your where's my mme showing?

My sales guy is on annual leave and trying to speak to anyone in Ford is a major exercise. I got my ER RWD because of the 379 mile range which I never expected to be able to charge to but hoped for certainly say 340. When I collected my car 2 weeks ago it was showing 100% 335 miles. Since then the maximum 100% I can get is 283 and at 80% about 231. I read all this crap about how you drive and weather etc but if you cannot charge in the first place to 80% or 100% of battery sold capacity your journey starting capacity has already been reduced before you put a foot on the pedal or drive through a gale!! I have to ask have I got a faulty battery? Currently waiting for dealer to come back as he wants to bring car in to check the battery. What experience have others had.
Might not be anything wrong with the battery. Mine (exd rwd) is currently at 85% with 233 miles of range. I have a fair amount of motorway and national speed limit roads so get an efficiency of 3.2 to 3.5 M/KWh, so works out about the 230-240
range. On more local trips the car reaches 4.0 to 4.5M/KWh. Currently after 2000 miles the efficiency is at 3.5.

You'll have to check the efficiency to see if the range ties up.

Edited - missed the h in kwh

Sorry - this is not going to be a very compassionate reply. I’m getting so fucking frustrated seeing posts like this on a semi regular basis!

If you buy an electric car - learn the basics first - or ask civilised questions before coming onto a forum and ranting about the percieved lack of range or capcity of your vehicle and how rubbish Ford are.

I’ll explain it all again for the umpteenth time on this thread….. if I have to do this again I may well loose my shit !

Are we sitting comfortably? I’ll begin……

If you buy an RWD ER car - your battery has a usable maximum capacity of 88kW. Think of it being like a petrol car having a tank capacity of 88 litres. (we’ll keep the numbers the same for simplicity)

You charge it up to full - you have 88kW of electricity stored in your battery, just like if you went to go to the petrol station and you filled up your tank with 88 litres of fuel. You now have a fully fuelled vehicle.

The maximum range of your vehicle is set by the maximum capacity of your energy source be it petrol or electric - but how efficient it is - and how many miles you get out of that stored source of energy is entirely dependent on how you drive the car.

If you accelerate heavily - you’ll use more electricity or petrol - it’s the same for both.
If you drive at fast speeds - you’ll use more electricity or petrol - it’s the same for both.
If you have the aircon on full blast - you’ll use more electricity or petrol - it’s the same for both.

The range that Ford quote is based on a standardised set of European tests called the WLTP cycle. It allows you to compare cars like for like to get an understanding of the potential efficiency of its fuel source.

The Mach-E has a range indicator - that’s the key word - INDICATOR. It is an estimate on how many miles you will get from the remaining fuel you have left in the car based upon your past driving history and a whole load of other factors. Ford put a lot of work into the software behind that indicator to make it as realistic as possible.

So if it keeps going down every time you fill up to 100% it’s not because the capacity of the car or your battery is magically shrinking - it’s because your driving style is not very well aligned with the WLTP test cycle.

You can charge to a 100% and make the indicator read 370 miles if you go and reset the driving history data in the settings menu, but if you drive your car inefficiently it will just head back down into the 280 mile range again over time.

Does that make sense? And stop harassing your poor dealer - there’s nothing wrong with your car!

OK gang, ready for another long one?

Here is my response to Mandy following the email she sent Friday:

Given your answers, and the fact that the car is going to improve with OTA updates over the next 12 months, I’m happy to wait for most of the points I’ve raised. Although I should point out that I’m not satisfied with the fact that all these were part of the original selling points and the fact they would not be available, should have been pointed out before we purchased the cars.

I would also like to raise a couple of points relating to what I feel are still currently outstanding issues:

1. Ambient Lighting - I note you are waiting for an answer to this but, in the meantime, I have to say I do not see this as just a ‘nice to have’ feature of my car. This was, very much, a major part of what sold it to me.

What you must bear in mind is that I only had the Ford website available when I chose this car and paid my deposit.

There were no cars available to test drive or even have a look at. This makes it even more critical that the information on the website was correct. Which we know it wasn’t.

4. Walk Away Lock - This does not work as you have described. It has never worked on the car.

I’ve shared your response with the UK forum members and not one has been able to get this to work.

Would you please readdress this issue.

7. Out Of Stock Items - I don’t find this a satisfactory answer. You have advertised the items I want at 25% and 30% off for the last 6 months. Due to our error I have not been able to order these items.

You are now telling me to go to my dealer who is going to charge me full price.

This is unacceptable.

I hope we can sort something out here where I can get the items at the reduced price.

I’ve had the same issue of the DAB radio alphabetical list of stations disappearing. Haven’t tried the @Wonky_Donkey closing tile trick so will see if that helps! At least the presets have stayed put!
I have had issues with DAB too. Can anyone get BBC Radio 1 or 1xtra for example.

Synch4 in general seems very glitchy.

I will give ZAP MAP
So for your route, not sure if you have ER or SR battery, but a couple of tips for ultra rapid chargers (+100kW) on some of your longer legs:

Preston->Stoke: you may not need it, but there are new Gridserve chargers at Lymm services. Good for a quick top up if stopping.

Leicester->Windsor: quite a few options doing down the M1, with new Gridserve chargers at Watford Gap and Toddington services, and the Ionity ones at Milton Keynes coachway. There also seems to be a 150kW Shell charger in the centre of Windsor.

Dunstable->Preston: definitely stop at the new Rugby services on the M6 and make use of the awesome bank of 12 Gridserve chargers there.

Preston->Newquay: the Cullompton services (M5 near Exeter) have 4 Ionity chargers, where you can use your Ford Pass card.

hey. Cheers for that. I have a AWD ER. I was 100% charged at Preston when leaving. 2.5 hours to get to Stoke due to a crash then onto castle donnington where I am now.

I have 143 mile range 56% left. That will get me to the international space museum and a stop off at the steak house, Miller and Carter in Leicester.
That is a 50kw charger and will charge while having our steak dinner while it charges.
((It works according to Zap Map)).

It’s nice to know about the 150kw in centre of Windsor for when I am at Legoland but also seen one at a restaurant on the way to Whipsnadezoo. I can re-think that.

Thanks for the Rugby bank of chargers heads up. I may make use of those so I don’t have much charge when I am at home late charging on my 7kw charger before I leave early Friday for Newquay.

I have already earmarked cullompton. It seems one of few choices but need to be mindful how busy that neck of the woods is.

I purchased the 7 day trial of the premium service Zap Map app so it works with Apple car play. I can’t say the user interface is worth it if I am honest. The free version gives you everything you need. Just make a note for your journey .

Sounds like you’ve got it sorted with handy chargers at your restaurant choices - nice one!

Yeah I’ve got Zap-Map premium for the apple car play interface, but agree it’s not great at the moment, will see if they improve it, as if it worked on the big screen like it does on my phone, that would be great!

Enjoy the rest of your road tripping!! (I’m in the USA for a holiday and doing a road trip from New York City tomorrow heading North East up the coast…in an ICE car though, missing my Mach E!)

Just a side note - anyone who was using Zap-Map, but is like me was a bit annoyed that they are charging for CarPlay functionality now - give PlugShare a go.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I really like the app and the fact that it works on CarPlay for free (as it should be!)

With respect mate you don't know how I have been driving the car. In fact I have been driving the car very carefully in the first 2 weeks and that is why I have queried how far the range has dropped. So with respect butt out✌ PS if I am not mistaken you have had quite a few rants yourself on this site over the weeks?

I think the amount of blood sweat and tears I have put into helping people in this forum over the last 18 months affords me the tiniest bit of slack when it comes to the occasional rant.

950 posts with a reaction score just shy of 2000 speaks for itself. I'm not just some guy who's turned up and started firing off accusations.

When I was lucky enough to be one of the first in the UK to get my car I could have just walked away from the forum and left you all to it, but I've stayed to continue to help.

If I'm not wanted or needed any more by the new crop of members - just give me the word ?
