Thanks tony

Cheers, I have screen shot that for reference. I have the Ecotricity app. A pop up comes up and says something like you don’t need the app now. Good job, it doesn’t work well.

I have no idea if it works ok mind. When we moved here 4 years ago I had a 24kw Leaf, didn't keep it long as the massive hills around here defeated it!
My MME is about 3 weeks away. I'll be a fully paid up member of the club then ;) ?

Indeedy, especially after doing a 515 mile road trip Monday-Thursday with a hyper 5 and 7 year old and then road trip to see a mate in Newquay on Friday.

just picked up another issue with the ZAPMAP

it has me charging at a hotel in Newquay. Looking further into it, you need to be a hotel guest to use it.

Doesn’t your Ford card give your privileges access to use this ?
I doubt ford pass will help at a hotel.

Some hotels have BP PULSE chargers at them so your FordPass charging network card should work. I used one at a hotel in Norfolk when I was there although the DC side didn't work. AC did. Wasn't staying there.

Good grief...

Just had a call from my dealer. My MME will be with them later this week and I'll be able to pick it up later the following week. It arrived at Dagenham last Wednesday.

The time line has been-

ordered 23/04/21
built during 1st week of June
arrived at Antwerp 17/07/21
arrived at Dagenham 11/07/21

They seem to have got a wiggle on!

Got an email from the dealer saying if I could sign the paperwork to say I activated the FordPass card there. I will not. I didn’t active it there and spent a lot of time sorting it out over many, many help desk chats.

Avoid these old Ecotricity chargers at all costs! As others have said, they don’t work well with MMEs

Hi, Guys

Quick question. What is the maximum KW the MME can take on a DC charger?

Also, has anyone had a problem with the Ford charge card ?

lastly, does anyone recommend a route planner app? I have Zap Map but wondering if it is worth the subscription?

I am going on a road trip with my boys so will be the first time I am putting to the test.

route consists of :

Mon - Preston - Stoke, Monkey Forest
Tues - Leicester, National Space Centre
Wed - Windsor, Legoland
Thus - Dunstable, ZSL Zoo - Preston.
Fri - Preston to Newquay

It’s going to be 1300 miles of cruising. I’m going to be knackered ?

also, after 1550 miles driving my car, I’m quite chuffed not to have seen another MME ☺
That’s quite selfish lol ?.
So for your route, not sure if you have ER or SR battery, but a couple of tips for ultra rapid chargers (+100kW) on some of your longer legs:

Preston->Stoke: you may not need it, but there are new Gridserve chargers at Lymm services. Good for a quick top up if stopping.

Leicester->Windsor: quite a few options doing down the M1, with new Gridserve chargers at Watford Gap and Toddington services, and the Ionity ones at Milton Keynes coachway. There also seems to be a 150kW Shell charger in the centre of Windsor.

Dunstable->Preston: definitely stop at the new Rugby services on the M6 and make use of the awesome bank of 12 Gridserve chargers there.

Preston->Newquay: the Cullompton services (M5 near Exeter) have 4 Ionity chargers, where you can use your Ford Pass card.

I notice 'lockable wheel nuts' in the accessory section of the price list.... Does that mean they don't come as standard?

If not, do we think they are necessary these days, or are the days of cars being left on bricks are long gone?

I have lockable nuts on my AWD-SR. Well, I haven't looked, but there is a locking wheel nut key in the glovebox.....

Brilliant. Cheers, Graham

I might take a visit to an ionity charger later and test it out so I don’t look a complete noob on the trip
I tried to charge at Ionity 150KW charge location just outside Dublin last Friday, seemed to read the FordPass card ok but then would not let me charge. Had to log into Ionity app to get charging and they charged 97 cents kw.

Had the car 2 weeks, 1200 miles completed and really like it. Much less so the public charging infrastructure in this country. Lucky fir us 95% of our charging will be completed at home.
However, the trip we just took from Scotland to South Coast England was definitely stressful and the government needs to sort this out else nobody will take EV very seriously. Issues ranging from 1 charger at motorway services, broken chargers, charging at 1/2 speed etc are massively frustrating. Plus public charging is expensive at 30p kw/h. Glad to be home for my 5p kw/h charging running this lovely car at less than 2p/mile.

I know exactly how you feel. Made a trip to Manchester at the weekend via Dublin. When I tried to charge at Ionity 150KVA just outside Dublin the FordPass card would not work and I had to use the Ionity App which then charged 97cents kw. When I got to AC hotel in Manchester which I booked because they had A BP Pulse charger some plonker in a non EV Volvo was parked in the EV bay so could not get to charger as another non EV car was parked in front of it. Sadly hotel was not interested in doing anything about it. Next morning the 2nd car had moved so was able to get connected while blocking the Volvo in:p Ford Pass card worked. Other chargers around Manchester found to show faulty. Best experience was at Morrisons in Holyhead prior to heading back to ferry. It was a GeniePoint 50KW and worked well.
Certainly puts a lot of stress into planning a longer journey.?

My sales guy is on annual leave and trying to speak to anyone in Ford is a major exercise. I got my ER RWD because of the 379 mile range which I never expected to be able to charge to but hoped for certainly say 340. When I collected my car 2 weeks ago it was showing 100% 335 miles. Since then the maximum 100% I can get is 283 and at 80% about 231. I read all this crap about how you drive and weather etc but if you cannot charge in the first place to 80% or 100% of battery sold capacity your journey starting capacity has already been reduced before you put a foot on the pedal or drive through a gale!! I have to ask have I got a faulty battery? Currently waiting for dealer to come back as he wants to bring car in to check the battery. What experience have others had.
