The ongoing saga of the intermittent operation of my welcome lights and button unlocking is this.
My car is back to how it was before it spent the day with my dealer on Monday. Welcome lights not working 4 out of 10 times, e-latch buttons not opening drivers door. Rear off side door button opening both doors. Called into my dealer yesterday and booked it in again for Thursday to try again.
One thing I did find out through talking to the owner of the dealership is that my car, and his demo, had/have lots of faults/issues that the car has reported to Ford's ETIS system via the connected FordPass app. He showed me a diary of all the faults and OTA updates that have occurred. On the 1st November (Monday) there were about 10 listed on my car. After the work had been completed these were either fixed or reset. However on 4th most of the same issues were showing up again. I could not get in depth details of the faults/issues but if mine and his demo has them I assume that there are a lot more out there that are suffering the same fate.
If these faults are showing up on Ford's system you would like to feel that they are aware of these issues and are trying to programme a fix for a later OTA update or a dealer applied patch.
I haven't noticed any other issues with the car. All my lights seem to work fine. All the functions seem fine as well. One thing I have noticed is that I have been using the cars built in satnav recently and the mysterious blue line that appeared now and again doesn't seem to have reappeared, even on the same journeys as before, so that is good.
We will have to wait an see what Thursday brings.

Mine's still in today. They are contacting Ford for guidance. I wonder if they have tried the 12v battery disconnect "fix" on our cars.

Good question. I'll ask the tech later. Let me know how you get on please.

Perhaps it is an issue with the crap keys they gave us.

When I took the car in yesterday the service desk looked at the key and said it must be the wrong one / why is it the same one as the key for my fiesta curtesy car.

I rang them, they are doing software updates and laughed off the 12v disconnect "fix" saying it will clear the code but the fault will come back either now or in a few days.

But then the so called tech expert has had it a day so far and not fixed it so you'd think it's worth a try wouldn't you! Rather than dismissing it.

I have just emailed Hannah regarding my issue with the welcome lights and she says that it is the first she or customer services have heard of this issue. Presumably those others who have got the same issue haven't got in touch with. May I suggest that you do so it is logged into the system. Obviously just going to a dealer isn't doing the correct follow up.

What's the welcome lights issue Grahame? The pony and lights not coming on when you approach the car?

Going back to peoples' concerns with their drop in range with the cold weather, I think a lot of it is a) range is something we are a lot more aware of in an EV, and b) range on a "tank" is less than most ICE cars. My previous car, hybrid C-HR, in the summer I got around low-mid 50's mpg, average in winter was more like mid 40's, and in a frosty spell, close to 40. But because a tank lasted me 5 weeks in summer, I didn't really notice it was more like 4 weeks in winter! I never really looked at the predicted range on my ICE, so therefore never noticed a drop in winter. With an EV, until ranges genuinely match most ICE, it is going to be a worry.

My observations over this week, here on the balmy south coast, we've had the first 2 mornings close to a frost. I go to work at 4am, and each of those 2 mornings, over a 3 mile journey, my range has dropped by 25 miles (around 2 miles/kWh)!!! But then doing various short trips later in the day with temps around 10-12, the range actually goes up as miles tick by (back to around 5-6 miles/kWh)!

Still a learning curve for us I think and that's where this forum comes in handy, to compare experiences. I do dread if we get a spell of several days or more where the temperature barely gets above zero - how many miles will be get out of a charge then?!?!

Also I'm wondering what the MME will be like driving in snow!

Funny that- as you know like you I had a C-HR and the 'range' plummeted in the winter. Here in the even balmier Cornish Peninsula we rarely even get frost. Yes my range has dropped BUT... I've seen the range climb from first thing in the morning to lunchtime without the car turning a wheel. The other day I drove across town to the supermarket and when I got home I had more range than when I started! On the way back I have to go down VERY steep hills, and brake coach was congratulting me for replenishing energy used by 100% because of my use of regen. I started from home with a range of 195 miles and when i got back it was 205! Still got 83% charge and that hasn't really altered for days.

It's too easy to get hung up on the guessometer. In some ways I wish it wasn't there. After all, all we had on our ice cars was a fuel gauge and that worked fine...

After my email to Hannah I received this response. It would appear the tech team weren't aware of the problem so at the moment there is no fix available but it is up to our dealers to let them know of the problem. So if you are experiencing the same issue as me then get to your dealer to investigate and escalate. This also goes for anything that you have issues with that has not been documented before. You might be the first with the issue but then others may follow later and if the tech team know about it they MIGHT find a solution.

Our Product and Engineering team have asked for the dealers to escalate the issue to the Technical team. Apologies, but it doesn’t look an update via Power-Up is available for the issues you are experiencing and it has to be raised via the dealer.

I had an email yesterday from our Fleet Team and it had a forwarded an email from Ford saying that there was going to be a 'minor recall' for Mach-E's in the UK and that Ford were writing to each owner/driver direct to advise them but it was giving us the heads up. Any ideas what this would be for?
