MME RR ER RWD ?

So, had my second test drive today in a AWD SR this time.

Still loved the drive and the ride.

I managed to ‘find’ a number of speed bumps of various size and sharpness.

I didn’t have a problem with any regarding ground clearance.

I even managed to get it home and check the fit in the garage. It’s tight but it does fit.

Finally, got the news that my delivery has gone back to 5th June. Mine was on the Immacolata.

I’m not too bothered. I would rather take delivery of a car that’s right than it get rushed.

Besides, the sooner it arrives, the sooner I have to pay for it! ??

The dealer did say that it might arrive sooner. ????
Hi @davkd

Many thanks for the update on the drive/ride and your very comprehensive ground clearance testing ? - a good result all round by the sounds of it ?

Interesting news on your delivery - mine was also on the Immacolata (hope that's correct!) and my dealer said today it had gone back a week from week ending 15 May to 22 May. Not quite sure how these dates are determined ?

But as you say, better right than rushed!

Cheers

First off I totally get that you have a Kia, and if you like the Kia you might wait for the EV6. I'm just a bit confused by some of the other reasons you state.

What am I missing? You mention performance was a big piece of the choice, but EV6 spec on paper is very similar to the Mach E and you don't yet know what the handling is like for the EV6.

I don't think I've seen anyone else have any issues with 1PD, so perhaps an issue with the demo car?

If you've ordered a 58k car (AWD ER) yet test drove a 41k car (RWD SR), then the specs are significantly different including a lot more power, handling difference from AWD, technology pack, different wheels etc.

Out of curiosity did you check the tyre pressures, which I think you can do on the dashboard? The Mach E seems to come with tyre pressures too high on new suspension and setting them correctly allegedly has an impact on the handling.

Sorry, not wanting to make you question your decision, but I'm trying to understand the reasons given I have my test drive in a couple of weeks and my order is for a RWD ER. I have no affinity for the Kia though and the Mach E, even in RWD ER guise, will be the most powerful car I've ever owned.

I have to agree with your comments.

I’ve had two test drives now and both were fine for me. Firm but smooth and very comfortable.

When you compare the specs of the Mach E to the EV6 there is a lot missing from the EV6.

This ranges from driving aids to safety features. There is not a comprehensive spec sheet available for the EV6 yet but, it would appear, that ‘autonomous driving’ is not going to be available.

I did look very closely at the EV6 but, for me, it is lacks a lot of features that are standard on the Mach E.

Ford sent a memo to all dealers after the arrival of the Grande Houston stating that ALL MME'S, we assume that means ALL and not just those for UK, were going to be subject to "additional QC checks" and that dealers should ignore the estimated delivery date on vista and tell customers to expect delivery of their cars 5 -10 weeks after arrival in Antwerp. Apologies to those who had cars on the GH but I can't remember when she docked. I can however remember when my car, which was on the IMMACOLATA, arrived and that was 30 March. 10 weeks from that date is 8th June. There have been a few people today saying that their car was on the same ship and that they have heard from their dealer to say their delivery has been pushed back from mid May to mid June. I am imposing a deadline. If my car hasn't been fixed, sorry, I mean QC'd and passed as fit for purpose by 8th June I will, reluctantly, pull the plug. I have had enough. This whole experience has been nothing short of disastrous for a number of reasons, one or two admittedly not Fords' fault, but mostly theirs. It is a shame because it has the potential to be a very good car. If this is the way forward then I will never buy another Ford. And I say that with a heavy ❤. Even if they do deliver it in time I am rapidly coming to the stage of wondering if I will enjoy the car or whether it will turn out to be a huge let down. Time will tell. Over to you Ford. The ball is in your court.

Well, nobody can say you haven’t been more than patient with Ford.

Your car was in Mexico that long I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t come with a sombrero!

I’m probably still enjoying the buzz after eventually getting to drive one but my latest delivery date was disappointing to say the least.

Will wait and see how I feel over the next few weeks.

Almost all reviews are positive so I wouldn't worry too much about the eventual car that'll we'll receive. If you've got this far and survived the £3k crisis which was a couple of weeks of intense stress then maybe it would be the ultimate regret to walk away now.

The sad thing is Ford prob don’t care. They’ll take your car, sell it at full price and make an additional £3k on top as they won’t need to cover the Govt Grant out there own pocket......... the cynic in me wonders if that’s there new plan!

That would be such a shame Graham, although, I appreciate your frustration!

You’ve offered advice and guidance to all us ‘newcomers’. When I’ve had ‘wobbles’ you have helped.

If I were you, now the cars are definitely on the way, I’d wait.

You have the £3k sorted and the only thing that can be holding things up now is more quality control (surely good to get them checked out thoroughly) or a hold up in transport (a short term problem).

At least it’s in Antwerp now and not Vera Cruz! ??

I’m sure when you get in it and start experiencing it all your woes will soon become a distant memory. ????

Cling to the thoughts that made you order this great car.

Really hope it doesn't come to that but wouldn't blame you at all for cancelling.

What is most frustrating is it just a bit of communication that is the issue, its not that hard to give all customers up to date simple info on what is happening with the vehicle but they don't seem to be abe to.

Have you had a test drive / seen one in real life yet?

Firstly, i am really blown away by the responses that my post last night has produced. Thanks to all of you for your kind words, wisdom and encouragement. All gratefully received. I had a really bad day yesterday and the posts regarding changes in delivery dates was the tipping point. Still waiting to hear from my dealer. Can only assume his silence means it is not good news.
I have seen the car in real life. I went to an tour day in Guildford and managed to see/sit in/play with a preproduction model last March. I was quite impressed and looking forward to getting one. I have a test drive booked for 8th May. Had hoped that I would be driving mine by then, but that is looking doubtful at this stage.
Lets see what the next couple of weeks bring. With any luck my test drive will be stupendous and will convince me that the wait is worth it. As some have said, and I agree, we have all come so far with this car and it will be a shame to pull out now especially when some of our cars are only about 360 miles away (mine anyway). So close yet so far.

Great, I was even more excited once I got to drive one and actually have a good look but yes is so frustrating with everything that has happened.

Hopefully you can wait just a little longer (let's pray it is only a little) and you get your car soon.

Would be a shame to cancel now so close to delivery but think Ford need to be aware that many many customers aren't happy.

Ford are aware that they have a lot of unhappy customers. I know Rebecca has been passing on a lot of my beefs and posts from here to those further up the food chain. It's just they don't seem to care or don't know how to speak to their customers. My emails to Emma Bergg got the corridors of Ford chattering but it hasn't improved anything. I have said it before and I will say it again, if I treated my customers like this I wouldn't have any more. Ford have lost me as a repeat customer. I'll never buy another from them.
