I had my first go using the intelligent cruise control today (so speed, distance and lane keeping) - really freaky - didn't need to tell me to keep my hands on the wheel!! I'm sure i'll trust it more in time, but a strange experience the first time you use it, particularly with other cars around you on a three-lane road.

hi James, have you got the extended battery? just trying to work out what I don't have in the standard battery it would be great if I get the hands free version!! but seeing as I don't have the 360 camera I am not sure how it works.

Yes mine's the extended range RWD...although it's not technically hands free yet, because if you're brave enough to let go, it beeps at you!!

Hi,

Just a quick question for anyone with both a home charger and a MME ?

I have just had my third Ford Connected Wallbox installed - and (touch wood) this one seems to be OK ?

So now I have both the car and a charger! However, I am not certain as to how to charge the car, and - as ever - Ford's documentation (to my eyes at least) is sorely lacking and fails to explain the most basic points ?

For example, in relation to charging at home:

• it must be in "Park"
• the charge port door can only be opened when the car is "on"
• does the car then need to remain "on" to charge (presumably if so just in "accessory" mode!)
• or can you start charging and turn the car "off"
• if you want to stop it charging at any point, do you just press the "unlock button" and then disconnect

Sorry, I know these are very basic questions, but just want to make sure I get it right (was never a problem charging my Outlander PHEV!!)

I also understand that to set up my home charger as a "charging location" and thus set-up a schedule, I need to charge there once "manually" before I can add it as a location ... is this correct?

My Toyota C-HR has exactly the same system, when you get used to it (doesn't take long) you'll wonder how you ever coped without it. It turns a long journey from a chore to pleasureable!

personally think it's time to go public on this shambles.

The communication, or lack of it, from Fords is a disgrace but it might not all be their fault.

There are so many supply problems at present.

My mate has a Porsche Taycan on order. Original delivery was 05/07 then went to 14/07, now 18/08.

Porsche have emailed him all along the way. Current problem is the tyre pressure sensors. They can’t get the chips for them so they are delayed.

Porsche have said they will keep him updated as 18/08 is dependent on delivery and fitting of the sensors.

It’s certainly a bad time for anything that contains chips (and these high tech cars are filled with them).

I can only assume that Fords are awaiting chips for their computers which is why they aren’t communicating with us! ????

I’ve been using it loads on these trips of mine… it works really well… But yeah, takes some time to build up trust. Lol.

The car doesn’t need to be on to be on to open the charge port. Just plug it in and it should charge straight away. The lights on the charge port will turn blue if it’s charging or flash orange if there is an issue. The you can set the level of charge either via the app or the car.

I also have a charging question for those with a little more knowledge on electrics than me… I’m at an Air BnB. Host says I’m fine to use the wall socket charger to charge up… but no sockets close enough to the car for it to reach the charge port.

Is it safe to run an extension lead or is it likely to overheat?

No you can charge with the car off and locked. Otherwise those cars at the motorway chargers would mean the owners insurance would be invalid if they left the car ON or unlocked.

You can start the charge if the car is off.

It appears to then create a "location" which you can modify to setup schedules.
