Hi @portlandg and @RegPYou have to set up the car to save a location for charging when you charge the car for the first time at home and then you should be able to set charge times and change the setting to "use preferred charge settings".
However, I have found that although I have set the car to charge between 0100 and 0400 with NO departure times, I still have to regulate the maximum charge otherwise the car will start charging as soon as I have plugged it in. I have worked it out that between these times I get about 15% charge so if I have 65% and leave the setting at 85% maximum charge the car will start BEFORE the 0100 start time to reach 85% by 0400. I am not sure if this is a bug, me not setting the correct settings or if this is the car behaving normally. If I set the maximum charge to about 15% above my current SOC then it seems to charge between the set times. Please bear in mind that I use the supplied Variopower lead plugged into a 32amp commando socket and have, therefore, no facility to set times on my charger. If you have a wall box I presume that you can do this.
I have similar issues with charging which I was going to post about last week, but thought it must be me ?
I am trying to do the same as @portlandg which is charging between 01:00 and 04:00 (with NO departure times) to 85% - I guess you may be an Octopus Go user? I have a schedule set for every day between 01:00 and 04:00 so that if I decide I need to charge I just plug it in ?
I had exactly the same result - if my car was at say 70%, it worked fine, if at 50% it starts charging immediately. Just to confirm, this is with NO departure times set.
The cause is that what the manual does not tell you is that if it determines that it cannot reach the target level within the next Charging Schedule window or within 24 hours, it will also start charging immediately and/or extend the charging outside of the specified Charging Schedule hours. (I may not have this 100% correct but I think that is the general gist of the matter)
I found this out purely as I had a warning message pop up in the car at one point hinting at this.
I tested this by adding another daily charging window betweeen 11:00 and 18:00 so that (if I left the car plugged in) it would always be able to charge to 85% within 24 hours - and hey presto, it worked ...... even at 50% it didn't start charging until 01:00 through to 04:00 and was expecting to resume at 11:00 - you just have to remember to unplug the car before then ?
So it's an undocumented feature - but in reality just not very well designed. You should be able to set-up a schedule such that whenever you plug the car in, it charges at the appointed time as far as it can up to, and not beyond, the specified charge level.
Hope this helps, would be interested in your thoughts/findings ?
Cheers, David
PS: the other issue is the restiction on only being able to schedule charging "on the hour" - Ford don't seem to have heard of minutes - although I think the departure settings do allow this ? This is especially true with Octopus Go where their EV tarfiff runs from 00:30 to 04:30 - so we are losing one hour of charging availablity with Ford.
