So, I set my ‘Departure Time’ last night…. It didn’t work.

I got in the car and it took quite a lot to get it to move. After a large ‘clunk’ it moved (pads sticking to discs). Then, as I drove off, there was a ‘thud’ which sounded like a flat tyre coming from the rear offside wheel.

Searched the forums to find this is a ‘Technical Service Bulletin’ (TSB) in the US. The brake pads need replacing.

Anyone else had either of these issues?

Do we have a contact to replace Hannah at Ford HQ?

Thanks in advance.

Is this connected to OPD? I have read something along those lines, don't used OPD so have no idea but in over 15000 miles I've not experienced that.

This was the email address she said to send enquiries too:

UK Customer Relationship Centre at [email protected]

Hopefully they are just as helpful.

Hiya

Yeah - mine does the same with the rear brakes from time to time, and is definitely linked to TSB 21-2206 (Vibration/Pulsation From Brakes - Brake Pad Material Stuck To Rotor) You may also notice lines on your rear brake discs where the pads are no longer making full contact with the entire disc.

I’ve got a number of outstanding TSB issues (including this one) which my local dealership is handling rather than the central Ford team. Biggest issue on quick resolution is parts availability.

Originally Hannah and the Mach-E concierge team were monitoring/managing my repairs - but no disrespect they didn’t really appear to add much value to the process as it all ended up falling to the dealership to sort in the end anyway (sorry guys - I know you read this forum sometimes!)

At the moment E-Sales look like they are filling the gap of what the Concierge did - but as your are experiencing a known issue my advice would be to go straight to the dealership to save time.

Tell them the issue and throw in the Tech Service Bulletin reference to guide them to the expected resolution (ie new pads needed) ;)

Good luck!

Thanks for the info @Wonky_Donkey.

I have it booked in on Weds, 5th for the dealer to have a look at the brake issue and again on the 13th for the roof recall.

Will report back how I go on.

Hope everyone has a great NYE tonight and all the very best for 2022.

Oh my god this takes forever! (especially when it decides to do a 9Gb download and then copies it to a USB stick)

I’ve been at it for 8½ hrs thanks to the not too fabulous Wi-Fi I have access to where I’m doing the updates.

Wish I could be doing this at home with my fibre broadband LOL

Oh my god yes! I must thank you again for ensuring I didn’t go for something not quite beefy enough.

When that first update kicked in - and the coolant pumps started running - my power supply jumped right in and was providing 32amps of load support.

Felt reassured that no matter how long everything took I was gonna be ok on the power side of things ?

Just need to go give my VCM II a kicking though as a couple of the updates didn’t like it (something to do with the VCI software not being detected)

I found a YouTube video about it so I’m off to watch that now :)

It’s a bit crap that we would have to go through such a painful process to update the cars. So much for “over the air updates”!
Well to be fair up until Power-Up 1.7.1 the OTA process had been seamless in updating my vehicle.

Ford offered to “try” to fix my stuck updates but I didn’t get that warm fuzzy feeling, so it was my personal choice (and lack of patience) that has lead me down this road.

It’s a bit of a faff because there were so many large downloads and updates outstanding. Essentially I’ve done the Customer Satisfaction Program updates that will be done when your window recall is sorted, and Power-Up 1.7.1 all in one day.
