And the results are in .....

Oh dear - it looks like I've channelled the spirit of Septic Peg instead of Mystic Meg (*again!) ?

Just popped in to see my dealer and he is in the process of doing the recall work on his demo. I was hoping that he would be able to get mine in next week, but apparently having been on order for 5 weeks the screen STILL hasn't been delivered so it looks as if I will have to wait a bit longer. ?

Apologises in advance, as I know this subject has been mentioned before, but I cannot find a definitive answer.
I have a ferry trip on the 24th March, 6 hours, Portsmouth to Caen. Now in Settings/Vehicle/Alarm System you can set the Motion Sensor to Off, which in the information (i) for the Alarm System it mentions ‘You may want to set the motion sensors to Off when parked on a ferry, train, or parking lift, or when a person is left or pet is left in the vehicle’.

Does this actually work when on a ferry?

It would seem that once the car in unlocked again (with Fiesta type key fob), the motion sensors are automatically turned On. There seems to be no way to check that the motion sensors remain Off when the car is locked.

Also when I lock the car I press the lock button on the key fob twice. The first press locks the car (one indicator light flash), the second press (2 indicator light flashes) deadlocks the doors.

I’m probably only press the lock button once, as maybe the second press turns the motion sensors back on again.

If anyone can give me a definitive answer that would be very much appreciated.

And, sorry final question. Disconnecting the wires to the tilt sensor would be a very safe way of stopping the alarm from going off during a ferry crossing. Does anyone know where the tilt sensor is located?

I went to the Isle of W on the ferry. I forgot to switch that off and the alarm went haywire (both directions). The doors are closed to go to the car so left it.

I think that a lot of thieves would like to know the answer to this question also. It can probably be found somewhere in an online service manual but there's no point in making it easy for them. ;)

I travel to and from the IOW on holiday every year (except last 2 years) and this year will be the first time in my Mach E. Unfortunately, I can't help you as I've not been on a ferry crossing yet.

Hi Everyone,

Placed a order via SelectCarLeasing on 20th Jan. However since than no update yet neither they have received any VIN number.

Any idea how can I get vin number / they suggesting Car will be available by June..

Does this take such long time for car to arrive?

Regards,
AD

I believe it's taking about 8 months from order on average due to chip shortages. Be aware this is affecting all makes...

Today I have dropped my MME off at the local Trust Ford so they can sort the brake pads/disks -the rear discs are badly scratched and the pads stick at times. I have asked them to update the s/w also as it is stuck on 1.6. The car was built 1/7/21 so I think it is a job2 car and I have not had any communications re pano roof nor windscreen. The lady on the front desk suggested that they would not update the s/w as it was not subject to a recall and therefore they would not be paid by Ford to do this work. Anyone else in a similar position?
I would query the software update issue with Ford themselves. I presume the dealer is waiting until the first service to price gouge you. By their logic the software would never be updated and your car could be years behind. Most of the time, software updates are bug fixes etc and no manufacturer spends time and resources on software fixes unless it actually fixes something. (Mostly) ahem Tesla with fart mode etc. I presume the dealer never carries out any updates under the PDI inspection?

Any bugs with the infotainment such as blank screens, general lethargy etc, hint hint ;);)

hi
My Mach E went in for windscreen recall and asked dealer to update to 1.7.1
They blew a module on the update and had to order a new module from Germany
It has still left a USB warning on start up
A Ford specialist has been asked to solve the issue
Hope he/she will make a visit to the dealer soon - taken 2 weeks so far
So beware
Hope this helps

I think the disconnect here is that the original intention was that the dealers would not normally need to do bug fix updates as they would all be done OTA.

A direct comparison would be buying a laptop from PC World and then taking it back every few months asking them to install the latest Windows Updates.

The customer service program to update Job1 cars was to get around the complaints over the GOM being so low in cold weather and to improve the charge speeds, and Ford was compensating dealers for their time to do this.

Now some of us more informed customers are demanding additional updates like 1.7.1 and the dealers are getting pissed as it takes a minimum of 3hrs to do that update alone - and that’s 3hrs of time they can’t claim for.
