Also, it was during a heatwave and the Leaf had no thermal battery management, so after two or three rapid charges the car limited the rate it would accept to protect the battery. That final charging stop took FOREVER.

It’s been covered a couple of times - but because it’s a current topic….

You don’t need the Ford streaming package for basic Alexa functionality. The recommended way to go is use Alexa how you want, and if there’s a particular function that needs the subscription it will just tell you.

You can then decide how important that particular Alexa feature is to you and if it’s worth the £££ to have it. :)
I have the Alexa app and am on a trial for Ford streaming. Might be me but I am not finding it of much use to me so far. I am quite happy using Apple Play to access my iPhone music library. I find Alexa at home really useful but am unsure what I can use it in the Mach for. Do you need Ford streaming to have updated navigation maps or traffic warnings? If so I will keep it otherwise no. Can anyone answer this please?
Whilst out on short drive this morning I received this update (the wifi in my garage is iffy despite a booster). Hopefully this a precursor to the update amending the volume knob to cover temperature etc.

No you don’t need Ford Streaming subscription for live traffic and map updates. That’s all covered by the 5year Navigation Package that starts at the time of first registration.

Showing my ignorance here but when I went into Connectivity to turn off Ford Streaming I could only see Ford Assistant and turned that off. Is that correct?

When looking in the FordPass app for chargers for my upcoming trip there is a filter for "In-Network" chargers.

Some of these chargers can be started from within the app by pressing "SELECT" and confirming on the next screen.

Others show "Charge Card Only". What charge card would that be? Is that my Ford Pass RFID card?

Might be a dumb question, but if that's the case, could I turn up at one of these chargers (which maybe doesn't have a chip & pin reader) and authenticate with the Ford Pass card? The money would then come from the card stored on my account.
On my recent European travels I found it handy to have a selection of apps. I found the Octopus Electroverse a handy app and having their RFID card was useful. It worked on a lot of ‘foreign’ chargers and in some instances was cheaper than the in Ford Network costs too.

Ah - are you trying to do it via the in car settings screen? If so it’s not there :)

Try either the FordPass app on your phone…

Top of the screen click the Account icon and then look for the “Subscriptions” section.

or...

Visit the Ford website (www.ford.co.uk/dashboard) and again locate the subscriptions link where you'll find them all shown...

Quick note: your subscriptions may look different as some are model year specific.

Yes I was trying to access the app via the in car Connectivity screen as per Ford's own instructions - then tried from my account on Ford's website - same result. I am wondering whether the fact that I am in a trial period means that I cannot cancel it as "activation is pending"? Do I have to wait for the expiration of the trial period? I feel like the Oozalum bird if you know what I mean? I have reinstated Ford Assistant.

What's Ford Secure? Does this replace Securialert which disappeared with one of the FordPass updates? This is not on my Ford Account although mine is Job 1 June 2021 build. (Day before Job 2)

Ford Secure was introduced as a new subscription on the 2022 models onwards. To my knowledge it‘s not been made available to any of the 2021 builds.

Before you get serious FOMO let me tell you that it doesn’t offer such a wide range of functions as it did initially as it was designed to work in conjunction with the now defunct SecuriAlert.

The biggest feature is that if your vehicle is stolen the thief cannot just perform a master reset to shut you out of being able to location track your car. With Ford Secure a reset requires an authorised FordPass user to confirm the action before a reset can be performed and that then gives you a 60minute window to do it (think of it like a two factor authentication). Ford have also setup a tracking centre, and if you report your vehicle as stolen they will work with the police to provide location information to assist with recovery.

Other features it originally offered that have now been removed was the ability to set up perimeter beacons. You could set your home location plus a chosen range, and if the car moved outside that perimeter boundary you would get an alert.

I did do some screenshots in a previous post back in May, I’ll pop them below for reference, but as mentioned all the location alert stuff has now gone.

I don’t know if it would be worth it to be honest.
You would have to know that the update was available to download for your vehicle as Ford seem to release them in batches. Otherwise you would just be leaving your car on for nothing.
I’m only on 2.6.0 and have had the car 2 years.
Ford seem to have been intentionally vague about the OTA updates which just leaves us all in the dark.
Thanks, good to know I'm not the only one in this situation. Nothing to do but wait patiently I suppose...

Thanks for this. A really useful function that I would have subscribed to (if available to me), Ford disable some of the features ? This for me would have been much better than Alexa and would save having to fit a tracker if insurance companies start demanding this. The software If standard might make insurance premiums more competitive. (Possibly).

Yeah, if it’s any consolation I got another update today after my 20 minute drive to work so they’re still updating the ones that are a wee bit behind.
It was priority update: 22-PU0706-SCH-POPA

I’m slowly catching up so hopefully you shouldn’t be far behind. ?

As long as you don't expect the Police to do anything about it! Someone in our area had a convertible Mustang stolen last weekend, it had a tracker and when they phoned Police, they were advised to "go and recover it as it will be parked up for a couple of days whilst they see if it has a tracker before they move/dispose or strip it". Police didn't even bother with any details of where it was, etc.

Maybe that's why the Insurance premiums are soooo high!

Fraudulent & exaggerated claims and others hi-jacked & sold on by unscrupulous claims agencies knock theft into a cocked hat!
