And so it didst come to pass, on that starry night under the brightest star of WiFi in a car shed in the East Midlands, the angel of the Ford came down and that birth, virgin’ on the miraculous, was delivered and update 5.1.1 came to be!

Alleluia and praise be to the Ford!
5.1.1 for me too on my MY21.

No, 5.1.1 saw the screen resize icon missing. For a while the alphabetic index from music artist list has been missing. After using other App and returning to CarPlay returns to a screen other than maps??‍♂

No complaints, just observations I may be able to resolve if I could be arsed to look??‍♂??‍♂

Fantastic!

It would be the perfect Christmas if the Ford sent 3 wise men bearing gifts of ‘Mustang’ key, Blue Cruise and Walk Away Lock. ??

I’m up to 5.1.1 now.

Anyone with a pre 2022 with Blue Cruise yet?

LOL - I think you’re more likely to get a BJ from Santa than any of those things on your wish list from Ford ?

So yesterday, I had the pleasure of driving to Wrexham to watch my team, Colchester United play Wrexham... a 416 mile round trip. As I didn't want to spend time charging, I took my sons Diesel, used exactly half a tank for the journey at a cost of £48.

Now my maths isn't good but I worked out what it would have cost me in the Mach E using the Gridserve charge newtwork and starting with 100% battery charged at home:

Home cost: 68kw @ 27.92ppkwh = £18.98 range at 2.5mpkwh = 170
Gridserve: miles to be added 246 @ 2.5mpkwh = 98.4kw @ .79ppkwh = £77.73
Total spend: £96.71

Please, someone put me out of my misery and tell me this is wrong? I know that it gets better marginally in the summer with the range, but I've never got better than 4mpkwh.

When I first started with the Mach E it was 16ppkwh at home and 35p on Gridserve, much more reasonable..... So with the Diesel, I not only saved over £45 but also the total journey time (less charging) was 1.5 hours less.

I think you’re probably about right though I’d always go for the higher rate at super fast charge points.

I make it, for a c440 mile round trip, the first c250 miles on 2.9mls/kWh @ 17p/kWh home charge and 190 miles at 85p/kWh with Shell, Ionity, Insta etc would’ve cost me c£70 in total.

An ICE of similar size and quality running at around 45mpg if you’re lucky would have been around £57.

It’s the public charge rate the providers are allowed to charge which racks up the cost.

The public wants what the public gets and whilst the current crop of crooks are voted in and fill theirs and their mates’ pockets like pigs in the trough, unregulated public charge providers will charge what we have no choice but to .

I would say I’m happy to pay the extra if it were supporting the NHS, homeless etc but lot landed ponces with duckhouses ?

Even though my average day is c320 miles, and I do think you have to look at the wider picture when working out overall economics, I think I’m still well on the right side in an EV with 73,000 miles on the clock.

Shout up when you come to Meadow Lane, DV.

Don't forget that petrol and diesel cost is at a 2 year low at the moment so any further world economic instability would mean those costs shoot up again. As an aside, I went to shop at Sainsbury's at Kingsway Retail Park in Derby on Friday and as you exit out of the retail park you pass the Sainsbury filling station. Guess what, there was a large hand written sign that pumps 5 and 6 had run out of diesel. There was still a queue of cars at these pumps and the filling station staff were announcing over loudspeaker for people to move as they were blocking access to the other pumps. I couldn't help feeling smug as I wafted by the queues. ?

I bet this won't be on any YouTube channel. If there had been a queue of EVs it would have gone viral.

I know there’s a good chunk of us are on EV tariffs at home and are only paying 7.5p/kWh - so @Dermot Vermin if you change your figures in part one of your calculation to that you may find it more palatable ;)

Personally I go little out of my way to only use the public ultra fast chargers that give discounted rates of about 38p/kWh (like IONITY) - so again that brings the figures down a bit more. Basically if I was doing that trip it would cost ~£42 which is more comparable.

I can't get a smart meter at the mo, no signal apparently... otherwise I'd switch and get the cheaper rate. I've been a bit lazy when it comes to cost at chargers as 90% of those sessions I claim back through work, (worst was £1 a kwh at Shell). I know it's probably been all over these threads Wonky, but how do I get the IONITY discount?

Gridserve Norwich a personal favourite by the way...
