Is the front storage compartment temperature controlled? That would be a game changer for me.....as in I would love to have that ability!
I don't think so. there are no vents in it, other than the drain plug

I am a bit undecided on the divider. I think it might end up being very useful. I carry a folding crate in the back of our C-Max to keep stuff secure (groceries, purchases etc).

Having a nice place to place groceries up front with dividers so a gallon of milk doesnt smash the bread or eggs might be ideal.

I guess we will see how it works and then decide....
I like having the AVAILABILITY of the divider. Could be useful. I just wanted to make sure it can come out when I want carry something larger in there.

Honestly, I have no plans for the trunk yet. It's easier to get in/out of the rear cargo area. I expect the frunk will be more of a "only if the back fills up" or "store rarely accessed supplies" (tools, blanket, emergency kit, etc) thing.

Maybe we'll get one of those folding cargo area dividers, but then use the frunk to store it out of the way when needing the full space for something else.

Don't European regulations mandate a bunch of safety equipment, like first aid kits, road flares, triangles, safety vests, flashlights, fire extinguishers, emergency food and so on? Is it possible that the front trunk divider is actually required so that the front trunk can be used to provide storage compartments for the safety equipment in European vehicles, hence the statements that it was added for safety purposes and Ford's reticence to confirm whether it is user-removable (that may not be permissible in the European market)?

Ford Explains Why It Killed Its Sedans In The US

It's about following the money.
While there's no point crying over spilled milk, many people still wonder what led to the decision by Ford to drastically revamp its vehicle lineup for the United States about two years ago. Ford really put its foot down when it said that sedans will no longer be a part of its product offerings, and it definitely looks like there's no more turning back from it. The final nails in the coffin were the months leading up to now, with the last Fiestas, Tauruses, and Fusions rolling off the assembly lines. That just leaves the Mustang and Ford GT as the two cars left, with crossovers and SUVs taking over.
ford-mustang-mach-e-exterior.jpg

Talking to Ford Authority, Kumar Galhotra, President of Ford North American and VP of Ford Motor Company, said plainly: “They key here is, not just for us, the sedan segment itself has been in decline for a very long time, and that decline has been accelerating over the last few years.”
A huge part of it is understanding that every product/vehicle is extremely resource-intensive, and must be supported by logistics, suppliers, workforce, and factories with costs than can run into the billions. "The question then became, in that environment, of a finite amount of capital, where do we want to invest that capital? Do we want to invest it in a declining segment or do we want to invest it in a growing segment?”

That growing segment allowed Ford to focus its efforts elsewhere, allowing it to create a host of new products that will offset the loss of sedans. Besides, the sales numbers for crossovers and SUVs don't lie, and vehicles like the Bronco, Bronco Sport, Mustang Mach-E, and the Maverick compact pickup truck are well on their way to fill in the non-sedan portfolio. It makes perfect sense from a business standpoint and it's pretty obvious that automakers these days cannot afford to waste resources on what they see as a dying segment.

If the frunk had a power opening hood with foot-activation like the rear, I'm sure we'd use it for groceries. But we're so used to the ease of the liftgate on our Escapes that I don't think we'll have any interesting in manually lifting the frunk hood for that.

Although temperature may impact that choice. There's times when it's actually advantageous to not have it climate controlled... like when taking ice cream and frozen foods home in the winter when it's cold out.

Sorry that is my mistake, I thought it was from the cooler references but realize now those just meant you can fill it with ice because of the drain.

One of the marketing photos shows the pre-divider era frunk holding what looks like a classic Coleman 48 qt polylite cooler. That would be very useful.

Someone mentioned earlier the idea of removing the dividers and adding fasteners to allow easy removal and replacement.

That’s my plan too.

Yeah. I might get spoiled with the power lift gate feature.

No worries. Just goes to show how useful this vehicle is going to be for all of us. It appears to be very adaptable to meet a variety of needs. A Sport/Utility/environment friendly/tech vehicle. There probably is a cool anagram in there somewhere....

There is a company that makes a kit for the M3 to convert it to a power frunk. Wouldnt be surprised to see a similar kit for the MME. Already saw one company mentioning aftermarket suspension

Now here is a question I dont think has been answered. will there be a button to release the frunk on the fob or in the app? Even that alone would be quite useful. Having to get into the car and release it like a hood release with arms full of groceries would be awkward.

Good question. Even better....just touch it and it pops up would be useful. (Provided the fob or phone is in your pocket...)

I wondered that too, but I don't think there is. One of the recent videos appeared to show that it's more of a regular manual hood release, with an inside release (left of the steering wheel).
