I am hoping it will be Alexa enabled that way we could just tell it to prepare for departure as we get ready. "Alexa, prep the Mustang" would be nice.

Ideally, yes. The battery should be warm before driving off, but it's not required. If you set a departure time, the car will condition the battery just before it's time to leave.

If you don't, it'll warm itself as you drive, but a bit of battery range will be used to do so.
Thanks

That's clear. But in either way if you're sitting in a cold parking lot not plugged in after a day at work, you'll eat up your range. It's either you condition before leaving or warm it up as you drive off....both take energy from the battery

In most European countries they use a , (comma) where we (USA) use a . (decimal point) and a . (period, decimal point) where we use a , (comma)

Europe USA
1.234,56 1,234.56

Having worked with developing software for use in both Europe and the USA I learned this the hard way.
All depends

In French, where you guys use a comma we use a fix space, and where you use a period we use a comma

Your 1,768,538.62 is our 1 768 538,62

But to be honest with you, I'm French Canadian but I prefer the comma to separate over the comma makes things visually easier to read, especially in hand writing

I’ve used that approach for our Leaf when I remember. The better feature the Mach E has if’s the ability to open all windows. This is a low energy way of cooling the car in the summer as you walk out.
I won't be needing that option. Car stays in the garage at home. That's the only place I'd consider leaving windows open (locked in the garage) but no need to there. When parking it outside anywhere I'll want it all locked up.

7 Tesla Supercharger sites in West Virginia (Triadelphia (2014), Parkersburg (2019), Charleston (2017), Mt. Hope (2018), Weston (2017), Morgantown (2017), and Huntington(2018)) that pretty well cover the state.

On the CCS side, there's 1 Harley-Davidson dealer near Morganstown that has a single 25 kW ChargePoint CCS unit.
I have emailed and tweeted EA on this. We drive from NE OH multiple times a year through WV on I77, and it is a CCS desert. You have to go all the way from Cambridge OH to Wyethville VA, a distance of 261 miles, and a good part of that through the mountains of WV. We also start heading East on I64 which is about 70 miles before Wyethville. The rest stops on the WV turnpike would be perfect spots. Especially the one in Beckley which is a tourist stop and right before the I64 spur.

Yup, although the idea with preconditioning it is that it would be done ideally while the car is plugged in, so no energy from the battery is used.
No way around it if you're sitting in a regular work parking lot.

Get that of course

But just wanted to confirm if it was ok just driving off cold or if the conditioning was a must before letting her roll

But seems like unless in very extreme temps it should be fine.

Of course for charging it's a different ballgame

Ever so sorry to hear this. Best wishes for a long survival rate. Has to be a gut punch.
Certainly provided some perspective. Everything has been so difficult this year and, specifically with this car, seemed like one hurdle after another (borrowing a car for a while, getting a loaner from Ford, still unsure if the financing will be any good when it eventually comes in).

But this really was, like you said, a gut punch. Simultaneously makes none of the rest of these issues matter while also exasperating all of them. Thankful for my in-laws who graciously offered a vehicle so I could travel out of state to be with my dad today during my mom’s surgery.

Appreciate everyone’s thoughts and well wishes

There is no way my wife would forget this one when it is cold. If I do and she is with me the trip would be delayed ;).
I can envision what will probably happen... We'll decide to head out somewhere, open the garage door and think "Oh crap, I forgot to preheat the car". So I start it and we'll head back inside the house... and get distracted with something. An hour later, "Oh crap, we forgot we left the car going!".

Actually we may not use it a lot from home. We have remote start in the Escape now and rarely use it, so this probably won't be much different. Where I hope to use it more is on the other end -- when we're getting ready to leave a restaurant, or Costco, etc. Unlike the Escape, we won't need to be close to the car to start it (since the app uses the internet instead).

I wonder how long cabin heating takes compared to ICE? Seems like it should be faster since the heat element kicks in immediately rather than waiting for the engine block to heat up.

Remote starting has a time limit (15 or 30 minutes) so an hour later you'll think "oh crap we left the car on" go out and find a cold car because it shut off and cooled down.

Indeed the resistive heater heats up quickly but uses a ton of electrons in the process. (On the Focus Electric it would burn at 5kW rate while on full blast.)

That's good. I know our Escape does that (shuts off after 10 minutes, IIRC), but I didn't know if the MME would do that since it's just heating rather than having an engine running. Then again, sounds like cabin heating can consume over 30% of the power, so maybe so.

Check out pages 117 and 118 of the owner's manual. Looks like remote start is very configurable.
