The Ford Bronco 6 G forum is extremely active. It has multiple threads that have over 100 pages each. When Ford announced they were delaying the painted black modular hard top, they had to combine at least 7 threads and it hit 60 pages in the first hour.

Doing the Bronco launch at the same time as the MME during a pandemic means Ford has their hands full.

This forum is more civilized with considerably fewer complainers than that one. But then again Ford killed the X-Plan for the Bronco and made lots of people upset.
Now if they just offered an electric Bronco.

As many can guess from my avatar I had a retro Ford Thunderbird (2002 Premium Torch Red beauty hence my handle “Illinibird” -(went to University of Illinois for undergraduate, masters, doctoral (DDS) and postdoctoral (Endodontics). In the 13 years I had my “Illinibird” I went to the Wixom Ford plant in Detroit (where they did final assembly of the “Birds”) and the plant in Lima Ohio where they made the small V8 engines for them; both tours were fantastic and absolutely one of the most amazingly and interesting things I’ve done in my life! In reading these posts I can tell some of you have done this too or else you know a lot about the process. Our Mach E’s are probably very similar (except they’re outsourced to Mexico) but are just as interesting. Big difference is the lithium batteries and electric drive motors instead of ICE engines and gas tanks. I’d love to see the process now but would be hesitant to travel where they are now assembled.

In the end, however, we all got our “Birds”. Some had to wait a lot longer in the beginning (just like now) but eventually we had them. Also the first year model was different than the last three (hope that doesn’t happen to us). My 2002 had drive by wire while the next 3 years had electric controlled accelerators, it had a hydraulic component by the engine which was replaced by a much better component, the later V-8 engines had a higher HP than the 2002, the later models had a built in remote control for the garage door opener while mine did not and oll lacked add ons available at that time like built in navigation, heated steering wheel, Sirius XM radio, remote control start and other differences I can’t remember right now. For a $40,000 car in 2002, this was a pretty big deal to say the least (those were 2002 dollars and now our Mach E’s cost nearly the same with a whole lot more included!).

The Mach E is in many ways like the Thunderbird of 2002: huge anticipation with may preorders; price gouging by greedy dealers (one of the reasons the new “Baby Birds” were made for only four years); demand clearly outpaced supply; nostalgia which brought us to our teenage years (Thunderbird and Mustang badges) and the formation of Internet clubs (Thunderbirdnest.com and macheforum.com).

I have confidence they will all be delivered
I second that; can not think of a reason Ford does not want my money. Sh!t happens. Life has problems but like normal no one remembers what the problem was just how others reacted to it. I am getting a MME and this glass has to be way more than half full. So it may be a bit later than planned; I will deal with it and it is not life threatening. No sense whining as that just gets old; especially with what is going on in the world right now.

Not our Mach E, but here's a cool video of the Volvo XC40 Recharge being assembled.

As a fellow multiple-Illinois degree person, it was fun to hear your story. One minor comment--the Mach-E is not being outsourced. It is being assembled by Ford employees in a Ford plant, not outsourced to another company for production. It is, however, being "offshored."

And, can you also agree that the better team won the football game Friday night? (Hope I am not pushing my luck). I was at Illinois for grad school back in the day when the team was known as The Fumbling Illini and students were welcome to take coolers to the games.

Absolutely! The Badgers Rocked Camp Randall! That Freshman Quarterback was A-MA-Zing. He matched a few records ever though he didn't get a chance to set any of his own. He has time to set some in the future! Being a Badger is one of the reasons My Mach E is Rapid Red! oh sorry guys, just a Badger Babe, who loves her home state. Hey stay healthy Prof.
