Tesla seems to be defying the odds again. They apparently have no impact and have an intense end of quarter push underway. Tesla will likely set quarterly and yearly records.

Tesla’s insane end of quarter push
Perhaps they are, but they also are shutting down the S and X lines for 18 days and 'suggesting' that the laid off people 'volunteer' to help deliver cars...

Yeah my car is holding everyone else up in the Body shop....
Apparently my car has escaped the Body Shop and "woke" since Ford Pass is now showing the "Activate" button...

Noooo! I was really hoping to be able to see my car in the picture but it was taken too soon
I scheduled the image collection window to try and capture MY car and the rest of you were just going to be along for the ride (pun intended). Unfortunately, my build got pushed into January, so I guess I'm left out in the cold, too.

And, yes, I will try and make the full image available for the forum to download in a dedicated thread.

I still dont understand how people dont comprehend the havoc the current pandemic has had on everything.
I still don't understand how people here in TX think a mask worn around their chin is actually fulfilling their responsibility to society. Point is there are people -how do I say this politely- that have difficultly imagining a world that exists beyond what they can see (or maybe what they want to see).

Apparently not. People are going about their lives with blinders on I guess.

Just as some background, there has been a shortage of autoracks throughout North America for quite some time. And a shortage of trucks to do the same work. Over the past decade or so autoracks/auto carrier/car transporter railroad cars have also transitioned to 2 deck and single deck due to the increased demand for larger vehicles in North America. That's resulted in additional shortages.

There's no doubt Ford had an appropriate logistics plan in place prior to the pandemic. That got tossed like everything else. Post pandemic they adjusted and modified as best they could. But there is a shortage. And there's a huge manpower shortage. You can't have autoracks and trucks waiting indefinitely and you can't have them waiting at all when there's few to be had. And even fewer qualified workers.

This is a dumpster fire of a year. It has changed everything. For Ford, for Tesla, for the airlines, for the agricultural plantations overseas, for aluminum smelters, battery makers (including the Eveready Energizer Bunny), McDonald's, Starbucks, banks ...every single facet of our lives has been completely upended. Sorry about that.

It's not just plausible that the current delay is with shipping, it's almost 100% certain. We all need to rethink our outlook and expectations. We're fortunate Ford didn't just say "Mid-2021 for the first deliveries." They need to be cut a lot more slack than you normally would. And even more, than that.

We're not even halfway through the pandemic at this point.

A lot more going on behind the scenes than you know. Things don't always go as planned. Yes, it was laid out but things have happened.

One rail company was down 70% workforce. How are you going to do anything with no workers?
Half and I say half of the fast-food restaurants where I live are not open. They can't get enough healthy people.

Tesla is shutting down two lines to help with the problems they are having. Covid has done a number on everything.
That's understandable but a little communication from Ford would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, let's do some math. In November they made 2500 MME, and since they have scaled up the rates by now it is likely they have somewhere between 4000 and 5000 MME waiting to be sold. Assuming on average the cars are at least Premium models let's say $50k per car. That's somewhere between $200 million and $250 million dollars worth of inventory.

Do you really think they were dumb enough to forget to arrange transportation? Do you really think they aren't trying everything they can to get that inventory out the door? Do you really think that you're that much smarter than them that you could have figured it out if you were in charge?

Come on, man.

Got my window sticker this morning. More real day by day.

I manage a healthcare fund for Grocery, Pharmacy, and other retail workers. We have had people die, and others have huge hospital bills due to COVID and 2020. Thankfully, they have good insurance with their union benefits, but I am concerned that these often forgotten frontline workers get the vaccine soon after healthcare workers.

I am a school board member who has people upset we haven't closed school, people upset we may still possibly have to close school, and people upset we make their kids wear masks in school. My brother and sister are teachers and I am also concerned teachers get the vaccine soon too.

In the scheme of things in 2020, this is a minor blip. This has been one of my few outlets to have a distraction and forget about all that for awhile. I'm not going to bitch because my car may be a couple of months late as an after effect of 2020. I'm just hoping to be alive and healthy when it gets here.

I don't mean to cut down any of you that are unhappy. I get it. You may have been relying on that tax credit or have a car at end of lease or life.

But I'll even wait longer if it means one more truck driver is delivering vaccine instead of my car.
