I though the same thing but then noticed there actually is a parking space in front of it, you can see the curb, now if this would reach the back of your car, that’s another question.

From my reading it seems Volta is primarily in the advertising business, they just use the chargers as billboards

Male PA Announcer: The red zone has always been for loading.
Female PA Announcer: Don't you tell me which zone is for loading, and which zone is for unloading.
Male PA Announcer: Look Betty, don't start up with your white zone shit again. There's just no stopping in a white zone.

Every little bit helps. 50kW chargers at 500 Walgreens around the country would be great. But I highly doubt a 50kW charger would be free.
There is volta 50kw charger at the mall in Clackamas, Oregon, they give you 1/2 hour free.

Volta's are all over the bay area in NorCal and I must say that they are garbage. Most of the time there's a Tesla parked in the stall and they normally only have 1 charger per location. It's one of those things where if it's there, and open sure, but don't look them up on a map and think "that's the place I'll stop".

It's like all the ChargePoint free charging locations at the Kaiser facilities around here. They all have employees using them and they are never open.

Used a Volta DC charger in Delaware yesterday. Charging time is capped at 30 minutes and my car received a consistent 44kW (based on OBD II readout) until SOC reached 80%, at which point it stayed at 35kW for the last few minutes (of the 30-minute allotment). This is the only DCFC out of eleven Volta charging stations at the mall, and one certainly depends on others' courtesy to be able to utilized it: the picture in PlugShare shows a Tesla parked there because it is close to one of the mall entrances; when I arrived an Audi e-tron was charging but when I returned a few minutes ago it became available.

By far the most chargers I've seen blocked by someone not charging are by Teslas. They seem to have an attitude that all charging spots are their private parking spots.

I was scoping out a trip to Indy on Plugshare. There are pictures of Teslas parked in front of CCS DCFCs in the airport parking garage. Apparently sitting there for days after the owner(s) parked there and flew out of town!

Thanks for posting.

Press release doesn't mention kW or cost, but does indicate that it won't be free and that it is intended to charge "given the average time a Walgreens shopper typically spends in-store" The electronic advertising billboard nature of the charger may reduce the cost somewhat though.

Makes sense that faster DC charging wouldn't be free, but interesting to read the forward-looking statement's disclaimers about pay-for-use and mobile check-in requirements: "Volta’s shift to including a pay-for-use charging business model and the requirement of mobile check-ins [could] adversely impact Volta’s ability to retain driver interest, content partners and site hosts"

I got the reference immediately. Fun movie.
