The F-150 house generator thing requires Ford Charge Station Pro ... which isn't out yet afaik

https://www.motortrend.com/news/fords-charge-station-pro-first-vehicle-to-grid-charger/
https://www.designnews.com/automoti...n-pro-cuts-lightning-recharge-time-40-percent

Also F150 != MME.
Don't drink the coolaid too much =)
Correct.

My point was if you buy the F-150 Lightning with the included 80amp charger, there aren't chargers on the market at that level anyway, so you'll get the bidirectional capability (if you equip your house to handle it) for "free", and you can't buy any other option to charge at that level.

That depends on your thought process.

The DTE rebate is on the entire install plus charger, and requires me to have it installed by a qualified network installer. In my case that's roughly $2,000.

The tax credit is on the entire install and charger. So that's a $600 tax credit on $2,000.

$2,000 - $500 - $600 = $900 out of pocket cost.

If I didn't buy the charger, then I would have paid ~ $1,300 for the wiring, given up the DTE credit (because you must also buy a charger so they can monitor usage), and then gotten 30% on $1,300 or $390, for an out of pocket cost of $910.

If you argue I didn't pay $500 for the combined cost, then it's $1,500 x 30% for a $450 tax credit in total, and $2,000 - $500 - 450 = $1,050 out of pocket cost. The question to your tax accountant, or tax software, is whether a $500 rebate from the utility company should decrease the amount of your tax credit. I will follow whatever my tax software says.
Ah yes, follow the old tax software trick, I love it

Simple Mathing it, it is minimal.

Mobile Charge = 240/32a or 7.68kWh
EVSE = 240/40a or 9.60 kWh
Ford Connected = 240/48a or 11.52 kWh

Just for comp sake
L1 = 120v/12A = 1.32 kWh
Charging rates are measured in kW, not kWh.

I'd like to point out that a GFCI breaker is only required in certain areas (the EVSE has its own built-in GFCI and does not require it). Most areas still do not require 240V GFCI protection, including Oregon. It is commonly exempted from the adopted NEC.

Installing a 14-50 outlet and using the included mobile charger is the cheapest way to L2 charge at home if you are stingy.
GTPE Dark Matter Gray. 10/15-22 STA! I bought directly $740.94 from and installed a ChargePoint Flex in the garage. Once the GTPE arrives I'll submit the necessary info to qualify for the available DTE (SE Michigan electric) $500 rebate. The ChargePoint works perfect with our 2020 Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid.

Not to hijack the thread, but since there have been some positive comments about ChargePoint Home Flex here...

I'm considering that vs the Pulsar Plus 48, both of which are eligible for rebates through my utility, as long as they're hardwired.

I like that the Pulsar Plus can power share on one circuit. I'm assuming each wire run from the breaker is one circuit, so if we wanted a second charger down the road, and had the ChargePoint, we'd either have to have two circuits run now or add a whole new circuit? We're also having our utility install a dedicated TOU EV meter; no clue if multiple circuits can connect to one unit (though I'd assume so?).

BUT I'm torn because the CP seems to have the most positive reviews of reliability I've read, and I'm a bit skittish about having to do a warranty claim on a hardwired unit, which would require paying for a new electrical install.

Anyone have thoughts on the reliability of CP vs PP?

Holy markup on the ChargePoint chargers on amazon...

I've always read people complaining about markup, but every time I looked the prices on Amazon were MSRP, that was till today when I actually wanted to buy one... They are starting at $1,000 bucks now!

The Pulsar Plus Wallbox is still at MSRP which is the one I had originally looked at buying till I saw that the ChargePoint seemed to present more data/metrics in their interface...

Guess that $2,000 check from CA is going to have to stay in the bank a little longer.

I just purchased the Grizzl-E and it is very well built and works great. It's $459 on Amazon.

Wow, I just got my CP Thursday from Amazon (699.00). I read your post and went back and looked. I beat it by a few days.

Tips:

1) Use CamelCamelCamel to monitor Amazon prices.

2) Make sure you pick the right configuration, and select Amazon as the seller, or 3rd party.
