What Do You Hate About Your Mach-E?

I don’t hate my Mach-E, just a few quibbles. Haven’t heard anyone else complaining about this, but I thought I’d offer a solution nonetheless. I noticed that left steering wheel speed cruise control faster/slower joystick, and the volume up/down joystick are at a weird angle, and are smooth to boot.

For those that are similarly bugged:

I took a narrow strip of gaffer’s tape (NOT duct tape!) a placed it vertically over each joystick, then molded it to fit with no seams.I think it really improves grip, and looks pretty decent.
I used to have to reposition my hands to comfortably move the joystick, but now my finger grips the top of it, as it should

ICE is boring, outdated, pointless tech, and the 10Best or CotY awards are kind of meaningless. The 25 cars worth waiting for just aren't worth waiting for.

Ford and the MME have pushed EV adoption forward, meaningfully, I believe. So now, the only thing worth reading in the car mags is Ezra Dyer.

Blue cruises absolutely useless. The drivers door button only working after several attempts. The rear suspension lifting off the ground after hitting a bump anything over 40 miles an hour in the rear end just goes nuts.

I feel the same way about my GMW Car Club of America magazine that comes with membership. They are covering EV developments though as well as what BMW is doing in the battery sphere.

My honda CRV has a rear hatch button on the left side by the knee, right where we also have buttons. Wish there was a physical hatch button there. There even seems to be an empty spot.

You can wire in an Explorer lift gate button in place of the max. defrost button. ??

I would say not just the enjoyment of car magazines but all ICE cars in general. For years I traveled and was always excited to choose my car from the Emerald Isle at National. I have rented twice recently and am bored at the thought of driving any ICE. So my complaint is why is this car so damn nice that it had to go and ruin everything else. Even when we have to take a big road trip in winter and use our Highlander, I am simply repulsed at the idea of driving it.

Dangit, add that to the list. You're totally right - driving an ICE is just tedious. Our Q7 is a chore to drive, and it's arguably at the peak of German engineering. But it just takes so damn long to do anything, you can feel all the wasted movement as the slack gets taken up. Highly engineered German slack, but even that is way too much. Our hybrid Sienna is better to drive, if only because it goes (sort of) when you tell it to.

I will disagree, semantically, on one point - it's not that the MME is nice (pretty good, maybe even pretty nice, but not quite nice, I think YMMV), it's that the EV driving experience is just better. Nothing can replace a 6-4 downshift, or dumping a clutch at redline, or the purr of a Ferrari V8, but for leaving a stop sign or getting out of a parking lot or getting on the highway, the EV is just scads better.

And that, for sure, has ripped a lot of enjoyment for ICE cars away. PLus, I just kind of feel like a Neanderthal getting gas for the Audi.

We've had our GT for six months now. Only real gripe is with the Charge door. I am getting tired of it requiring 4 or 5 tries in order to close each morning. We need a better design, perhaps like the one on my daughter's 2017 Focus or my '17 Ecoboost.

Push with fist. Works for me. My FFE's flippy door is almost always left open by my wife.

Agreed, my 2013 Leaf kinda ruined ICE for me. It was just fun, even though it was slow the EV is just fun.

Today? My only complaint is the passenger seatbelt and the lack of something to keep that from rattling. Otherwise I'm pretty damn happy with it now.

I own a porsche cayman s '06. It is manual (not just trans, it is pre drive by wire, it has tcs but a helpful disable button). It is light. It is opinionated. It does not like to back up. It will attempt to overtake any car going in the same direction, even cars faster by spec. It doesn't like driving less than 60 at all, feels comfortable at 80, feels best at 100, which is not compatible with my local regulations, but the cayman doesn't care.

I have not driven any other car i considered more viscerally appealing, nor have i really heard of one made after 1970 (and those cars are hard to justify now). Similar beloved cars would be the s2000, it was an excellent vintage in cars. ICE cars seemed to get over refined to my taste right after that. An ice car where you electricfy all the systems, you are better off EV and get the torque. The evs i have driven (leaf, tesla, mache) seem like living in the future, even if public charge networks and battery tech has a way to go. Even if suspension tech for heavier loads needs improvement.

The FFE’s flippy charge port door is so much better than the silly door we have on the MME. I prefer it, at least. ?‍?

So we have a 2015 highlander xle, this week we had a 2023 highlander xle rental and it was worse than ours in almost every way! We have a solid 6spd, the new 10spd makes it sound horrible, drive horrible. And I almost said what you did, the only ICE I would drive now would be a small older manual convertible, boxster, z3, s2000 or older
