Dropped BT connection seems to be 'regular' status after a couple minutes.... and then FordPass seems to try connecting repeatedly, failing, and eating data and battery on m y phone.

Interestingly, if I hit the door lock/unlock or Start button in FordPass, it often re-connects BT, and updates my charge status successfully as well as allows use of PAAK as long as I get there before BT disconnects.
Since I have 2 FOBs, PaaK isn't that essential to me but pairing my phone to my car is. I want to be able to send or receive phone calls or texts. I am wondering if I erased PaaK would this pairing dilemma be solved?

PAAK and 'regular phone functions' use different BT connections.

I have found that things reconnect if I turn BT off/on my phone as I approach. I often turn off BT on my phone after exit so it doesn't keep trying.

PaaK is one of the biggest features I got this car (and my past tesla) for. So this is disappointing for me :(

I really hope Ford has a fix in mind. A real actual fix.

I hope so too!
but as long as you know your door code, and Backup StartCode, then you can get in and start y car (without a Fob) regardless of PAAK working or not.

Yeah, and I've been doing this, but in reality the screen takes a while to boot up and register touch so it takes a while to input my password.

Also most of the time the screen to input my password doesn't even show up, I have to press the on button of the car like 10 times....

PaaK should just be fixed.

I agree but for now my old fashioned FOB will have to do.

Since the blank key inside the fob is moot, Ford should build a much smaller fob to work with the MME.

I had this SSM applied at the dealer yesterday. It's too early to draw any conclusions, but so far, PaaK has worked for me every time. Before the update, it only worked about 50% of the time at best. I'm cautiously hopeful.

I have my appointment scheduled for this Friday. I'll also report back, but this is promising to hear. When I called the service department they mentioned that they had even already done this to another MME. How long was your appointment? I can't decide if I can just wait for it and work in the waiting room.

I'm not sure how long they actually worked on the update. They had the car all day (since Saturday actually) for a completely unrelated problem with the passenger door not closing. I just had them apply the Paak update while they had it. It doesn't look like this particular update should take very long since it's just one module.

It has now been 5 days since I had this update applied. The evidence is anecdotal, but I still haven't had a single PaaK failure since then (other than when I removed the car from FordPass to try to fix a different issue). I think I'm starting to become a believer.

I have my MME scheduled next Tuesday and was wondering how long it took them to update the software to RFA module. I asked if I could wait but he said it’s better not to because they don’t know how long it will take. I know you’re having yours done today so I’m wondering how long you had to leave your car? Thanks.

I just got back from my dealership. I dropped it off at 9 am and left at 10:45 am, so "door-to-door" took 1 hr 45 min. They didn't immediately take my car back, so it certainly could be even faster than that. I ended up waiting for it and just working in the waiting area. Since I took my physical key with me to the dealership I haven't had a chance to test out the update, but I'm hopeful. I'll post back once I've been driving with PaaK a few days like @generaltso did.

So I'm taking my car in Tuesday to have SSM 49730 loaded into the RFA because my iPhone and Mach E keep losing their Bluetooth pairing. I switched to Car Play and have yet to have a problem with their pairing. Why is that? My phone is Apple iPhone X and works fine with all the other functions and with Car Play (which is the Apple user interface). I'm just getting used to Car Play and like it but I also want to be able to use Sync 4a with Bluetooth. Any Car Play experts?

You can’t use CarPlay and Bluetooth at the same time. It’s one or the other. CarPlay uses Bluetooth for the initial connection and then switches to WiFi.
