and if cars are so close to dealers why can’t they pick them up themselves????
According to an article in The NY Times, many are Union-operated, making it impossible.

The holdup is due to a shortage in truck drivers. I just had a car moved from Tennessee to Virginia, and the carrier was telling me that about 30% of the industry retired in 2020 due to COVID and there hasn't been enough recuperation in workforce. Truck drivers are also getting paid more for other critical delivery industries, such as Amazon fulfillment center deliveries and grocery store deliveries.
With Ford adding 32-39 days to my ETA yesterday (11/21-11/27 to 12/29-01/04), does it make sense that my delay is also driven by the same trucking shortage?

Thanks to your help a couple of weeks ago, I was able to trace my car (3FMTK3R74MMA61102) via NS. According to the calls I made, it was unloaded 29 miles from my dealer at Ford's Distribution Center in Ayer, MA on 11/29. With Ford stretching out my ETA, I now wonder if that tracing was accurate?

If it is accurate, then it would seem that Ford just erred on the side of caution by adding ample time to the ETA to account for the trucking uncertainty. If that's the case, I suppose I feel a little better about it perhaps getting delivered earlier than 01/04. ?

If you consider the article that another member posted on the previous page about JCT waiting around for loads to arrive via train, I'm positive similar situations exist at rail endpoints across the country, but because these endpoints aren't main hubs like KCS is, truck drivers won't be waiting around for loads to arrive. Trucking companies will wait for multiple trucks to be filled in order to maximize efficiency with available drivers and trucks.

Look at my situation, my MME has been sitting for 2 weeks now. Albeit, a few days downtime for the holidays but this just shows how this country is dealing with supply chain shortages. I've confirmed with AutoPort that our MME is there and they confirmed it arrived on 11/19, just as NSCorp identified.

So here I sit, waiting patiently for my MME. All good though, spending money on our n'used Subaru Outback, that is our new alternate vehicle.

Keep us updated. Even though I've taken delivery of mine, I'm still interested in everyone who is a part of the 10/11 build week gang. I'm certain that you couldn't be more anxious to take delivery, but let me just say that my car has lived up to the hype and expectations. PAAK works great, I tested out Blue Cruise and the Self Parking and while it's a little unsettling to let go of the wheel when parking between cars or travelling on the freeway at 70 mph, they both worked flawlessly, the B&O system sounds great. I just love this car. My only gripe is that the shiny black trim is easily scuffed and there's lots of it. To prevent any further stress, I'm going to get those pieces wrapped.

Thanks for the encouragement, it's appreciated!

According to the article the one company is one of only two union ones left in the country

“Jack Cooper is one of only two union-represented companies left in the car hauling industry.”

Very strange: Has anyone else experienced this?:

Since Dec.1, which was 4 days after my original ‘estimated delivery 11/21-11/27’ range, my VIN stopped working on the various trackers.

Now I get a ‘invalid VIN/order number’ from the shop.ford tracker, ‘null’ from the forum tracker, and nothing at all from the seg… tracker.

The only ‘tracker’ that’s working is my Reservations/Orders page on Ford.com, where the estimated delivery now reads 12/29-01/04.

I can still see my sticker, to my knowledge, my car is at the Ford Distribution Center in Ayer, MA (only 29 miles from my dealer), but this is unsettling, nonetheless.

Just for chuckles (evidently), Ford emailed me a post-delivery survey this morning…

I also lost my car on the trackers….once it was delivered to the dealer.

I noticed yesterday and still this morning that none of the trackers seem to be working except the Ford order tracking website. I keep checking the vins for the cars that landed at Voltz with mine. None of them work in the trackers except the Ford order site. BUT…all of the ones that were previously delivered get the same invalid error you get. Mine still says estimated deliver 1/3/21…

I agree with your thoughts on the hype and expectation. I took delivery of mine last night. The dealer did not understand Options and instead quoted me a Red Carpet Lease (RCL), despite my repeated protests. The desk manager (the guy working the deal) insisted that ford.com was wrong. They have some “vincent” (probably spelled wrong) system that lets them know what financing works and Options was not there, but RCL was. I fully expect them to call me back in on Monday to fix the problem with financing.

That aside, the car is AMAZING!!!! After just driving it 15 miles last night, I can say that I would have happily waited several more months if needed, knowing what I know now. I have only tested adaptive cruise and PAAK, both of which work very well. Oddly, the premium sound system is not quite as good as the Bose system in my LEAF. The ride is much better. The performance is disturbingly good, more performance than I need in a daily driver and certainly enough to get me into trouble on light-to-light runs with unsuspecting opponents in the adjacent lane.

My son (partly in the photo) took it around the block and even strung it out a little. He declared that the car is truly sick which I think means that he approves.

My previous EV was also a Leaf with the Bose system. Try the surround audio setting and push the speaker balance to the rear a little bit on your MME. When I did that, I felt the sound was far superior to my Leaf. The sound system is good and the cabin is much quieter than the Leaf.

I am gonna go grab a beer and celebrate once you take delivery of your car. Good luck my fellow 10/11 build weeker.

Same train mine went on, only it arrived in KC on 11/1. It’s now in a distribution lot in Ayer, MA awaiting a truck to deliver it to my dealer 29 miles away.
If you check earlier posts in the thread (25-30 or so) you’ll find info about tracing with Norfolk Southern. A rail car number will be attached to your VIN, but you’ll need to get that number from your dealer’s vehicle visibility report, or by setting up an account with United Road, if I’m not mistaken. Good luck.

While it was nice to trace it like this, on the other hand it’s frustrating to know that my car is so close, yet so far! Dealers are totally at the mercy of the trucking companies, who are short on drivers.
