It's charging to and discharging to either end of the battery that lowers how the life of the battery / how much of a charge it can hold. To optimize it would be to leave the larger buffer until the battery isn't falling within the 70% warranty amount, and then extend the range so that it's back to being within 70%.Wouldn't the originally advertised range be the baseline for the warranty? Extending the range should mean less warranty claims.
Not saying that is what Ford will do, just hypothetical... It's only a few %, so in the scheme of things it's not significant, and doubt it will impact how many batteries are replaced for warranty.
