Wouldn't the originally advertised range be the baseline for the warranty? Extending the range should mean less warranty claims.
It's charging to and discharging to either end of the battery that lowers how the life of the battery / how much of a charge it can hold. To optimize it would be to leave the larger buffer until the battery isn't falling within the 70% warranty amount, and then extend the range so that it's back to being within 70%.

Not saying that is what Ford will do, just hypothetical... It's only a few %, so in the scheme of things it's not significant, and doubt it will impact how many batteries are replaced for warranty.

Lol, the way I see it -- the more attention drawn to this, the better for all of us.
I respect that... I just don't think the FMC account has any pull whatsoever.

Also there's been a lot of "entitlement" threads lately. This, key fobs, etc. While Ford might be modeling some things after Telsa let's keep in mind that Telsa's larger complaint is that it's more of a computer and less of a car in that build quality suffers. Tesla has arguably had 10+ years to improve and they still have issues. Pick your poison.

My opinion, which I know is a mixed bag, is that I purchased a vehicle with 88 kWh available. IF I get more because they are generous (key word vs being entitled) then I'm grateful. If I don't, they aren't by any means required to and as a consumer I will only expect what I was promised.

Messaging on the other hand with Ford is horrific. I think they are all competing to be politicians, one day it's one thing, the next it's something different. Even though I don't think it was ever specifically stated that we would get 3 kWh more, it was implied. On my car it's a whole 6 miles ... whoop-de-do

Ford is doing this bad on the software side and not even a 100k Mach Es sold and im seriously starting to regret my purchase. If you can't push regular updates to 50k cars then why should we believe in them?

I love my GT. I knew exactly what I was buying and I definitely don't regret it. I agree they need to work on their update process, but to me it is a minor issue. And 3 kWh is really minor compared to PaaK reliability, IMO. ?

Kinda funny people who bought a Gala Apple thinking, complaining and wishing it was a Fuji.

It's not the 3 kwh for me but other things like the doors not opening and having to take it to the dealer to get a software update or PaaK update that should be pushed through Ota. The car also is starting to feel like it's aging poorly when other ev can DCFC at 250 and have a better curve.

No, people bought a Fuji apple that was software-limited so as to appear to only be a Gala apple. But the apple-seller told the stores and food reviewers they'd unlock old apples to become their true Fuji apple selves, who then told the consumers, some of whom bought them based upon the apple-seller's word. The apple-seller then said "just kidding! You've gotta buy the physically-identical 2022 apple in order to unlock its full Fujiness"

Most likely -- but it doesn't hurt us any to bring their attention to it as an issue that a lot of us are concerned with.
Ford's made it clear over the past year that they watch these forums closely... Even the FordPass app developer responds to reviews on the Google Play Store with references to this forum ?

That's a fair opinion. I'll add the caveat, however, that the competition has this very feature already in a very similar product. Customers can rightfully expect it these days.
As consumers, we have the luxury of choice now, and if Ford is serious about taking the #1 EV spot from Tesla one day, this is the kind of thing they're going to have to start delivering -- entitled customers or not. That is, continuous improvements to products already in the field.

I think they're aware of the situation, and for whatever reason are just not fully ready to announce or deliver it yet.

Agreed. But what about the improved charge curve? It may be a little off topic, but it is related.

Personally I would get a lot more value out of the 80-90% charge speed increase than the additional 3 kWh.
I fully agree. Increasing the charging cliff edge to 90% would make the car more usable for longer journeys. I’d prefer that any day over the 3kwh increase.

If you think the decisions that go into buying a 50¢ apple you'll eat in a day are in any way comparable to those of buying a $60k car you'll use for years, I'm afraid there's not much point debating this subject with you...lol

The VW id cars had an update to increase their charge speed and charge curve ( VW is preparing a software update for its ID. series electric cars that increases peak charging speed from 125kW to 135kW on the largest 77kWh battery ). The polestar had an update to increase the horse power and performance (The power upgrade adds 67 horsepower (50 kW) and an additional 20 Nm (15 pound-feet) of torque for a grand total of 476 horsepower (350 kW0 and 680 Nm (502 pound-feet)).
So a small increase in capacity shouldn't be hard!

I bought theg MME as I thought we were buying a into the new paradigm of cars - the fusion of technology and vehicles. That is certainly how it's been marketed. I did not think that updates would be limited to fixing bugs - I also don't have a problem with bugs being an early adopter. Virtually all the EV competition is pushing out updates to improve things that are important to the customer, such as range.

I do recognize that Ford is pushing out updates to improve important aspects of the car, such as the charging curve for job 1 builds (although I'm later than that so not eligible, yet). This statement does make me a touch nervous about getting that.

I would be very disappointed if their approach resembles the old oem model. Hopefully the battery pack statement either isn't true or its just that they have to delay to figure out how to do it.

There is tons of competition coming in 2022 and beyond, plus we all see the demand for Tesla. I would think Ford wants to come out ahead, so they should be focused on adopting the new paradigm.

I would pay for a horsepower boost, like a tune on my old cars. Ford just needs to get adventurous and offer stuff like that to us.
