Another message regarding 22-2117 today:

TSB 22-2117 - USB-to-Ethernet Adapter for APIM/TCU Recovery - Technician Feedback Requested

Ford recently published TSB 22-2117 on 2021 F-150 and Mach-E vehicles to assist technicians that experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) or telematics control unit (TCU) using FDRS and a USB drive. The TSB module recovery procedure requires the use of ethernet and USB cables, a mini B 5-pin female adapter, and a USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Ford has tested and verified the following USB-to-Ethernet adapters work with the procedure:
  • Trendnet TU2-ET100 USB 2.0
  • Trendnet TU3-ETG USB 3.0
  • Startech USB31000S USB 3.0
Adapter performance can vary and Ford has received feedback from technicians that some other brands of USB-to-Ethernet adapters do not work. In an effort to share input with other technicians, please provide feedback on which adapters have worked or not worked for you.

So, after they replaced my APIM, I set an OTA update schedule for Tuesdays. But, on the widget, it doesn't show that I've set a schedule at all. Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe there is a delay for Ford to see it.
Where is this widget you and others refer to? Thanks.

My takeaway from all of this is that dealerships need to start hiring someone versed in car software, in addition to the standard mechanics. Some of this stuff is just common sense in the IT world.
Ford just needs to open separate shops just for EVs

Eureka! I wrote to Charity of the EA Program and told her that to date I had not received any updates since having the TSB performed. She wrote back and told me to check the car and sure enough, there was an update pending!! The update was 2.1.0 and she said from now on I should start receiving a steady stream of updates until I have them all. Finally a happy camper at last!!

That’s great, too bad you had to have them push it though, hopefully not everyone has to do tha?

That would be good to know. I took mine in this morning, and to my surprise they had apparently already updated two MachE's earlier in the week with the same TSB. They said it worked, but it takes like a day and half. The service manager said it's because it keeps applying more updates. He also mentioned they will try to install BlueCruise. I told them they could keep it overnight, and that I needed it tomorrow afternoon. We will see.....

Yes and it was coincidental that I submitted a feedback form on updates in the car and 15 minutes later I was e-mailed telling me the car accepted the OTA Powerup update and to check my car. When I did, sure enough the update icon was there and it told me it was successful in updating to 2.1.0. I supposedly won’t have to contact anybody after this as she said I would start to get a steady stream of updates until I was caught up. So TSB 22-2117 DOES WORK (for me anyway). I had to do some major handholding with the mechanic in supplying the necessary cables and sending him printouts from this forum as to how to do it and he was successful. Even with all this, however, he still called Ford for their advice. Seems if they don’t follow the directions carefully it doesn’t work as evidenced by some on this thread.
