The interesting thing is they keep on talking about Michigan, nothing against Michigan but your cold testing in Michigan cannot compare to the temps we get in Northern Quebec
Well it can get quite cold here too...

Since they standardized to full cycle equivalents this really says two things:
1) stay in the mid-range
2) short cycles are better than deep cycles.

Both of those make sense. It's unfortunate the figure doesn't have 10% SOC charging at multiple parts of the range. Is 75-65% good because it is only 10% or because it is near the middle. Would 90-100% be the same?
Just remember that 99% of people will never make it past the 1000 cycle point on that chart. If it represents full cycles of the battery (88 kWh), that's 88,000 kWh * 3.5 miles/kWh (est.) = 308,000 miles.

At 1000 cycles, there's really not a ton of degradation for ANY of those lines.

Yeah despite what they say you are really fiddling in the decimal places at this point.

Like Tim said: If you're not putting tons of miles on it and not DCFC'ing for every charge....just drive the darn car.

I've frequently reported on my Bolt strategy: In winter charge to some percentage below 100 daily (I don't know what Chevy's "Hilltop Reserve" charges to but it isn't 100--something like 95 or so), in summer I drive it until its about 1/2 full and then charge to 100 percent (the strategey used is purely based on outside temperature and the amount of heater use required). If I know I'm going on a long drive tomorrow I'll charge to full overnight regardless of its current level.

I'm at 26k miles now with zero noticable degredation (I'd be more around 31+k miles if it wasn't for Covid-19).

Geography (latitude). I think northern Michigan (Smithers Winter Test Center) would be the best representation for temps and snow (great lake effects) in the states. The start of northern Canada. Last longer the farther you go up and less day light.

Source please; was that released by Ford? I have seen it before but could not confirm; it is old (early) right?
It obviously isn't as clear of an image but it looks like it was in their presentation from Thursday

I don't even think its from charging i thibk it might be the actual driving theyre worried about.
Yes and the abuse some driver might put on the battery, like DCFC to often or charging at 100% everyday when even it's not needed, so being carefull here on the start is a smart decision.

Yep, that was me. I saw one here last October. Also, Darren Palmer once mentioned Alaska testing. I’ll be sure to update the forum on real-world arctic testing when my FE gets here in December. Not that Canadians and Michiganders can’t do a reasonable imitation of cold, but -25 is for amateurs. -40 is in the ballpark, but a week or so at -50 should be a real test.
