I’m looking at other EVs. This isn’t acceptable to me. Also let’s think about this new part.
Do we think they’ve put more engineering rigor and quality in developing and testing it? Have they changed their testing since they shipped our cars with the original part? Do you think they’ve changed anything in testing since modeling the software that was supposed to protect and fix the issue?

There are very few cars with the new part in the real world and I'm now going to be their tester to see if this new part has basic reliability.

I'm at the stage now that I don't trust the engineering in the car or Ford in standing behind it.
What EVs are you looking at? Feels like nothing out there has the speed combined with the style of the Mach E. BMW i4 performs well apparently but that front end is rough looking. And Tesla is a non-starter unless it’s the S…only good looking Tesla. The Ioniq and EV6 just don’t have the looks of the Mach E (but charge quite well).

You mentioned “if you have a GT” but my understanding is that it is not GT only issue, correct?
Correct, but GTs pull more power ... more power = more heat ... more heat = more failures.

If I were to dump my Mach-E then I'd probably just get a $40,000 or less ICE vehicle and pocket the extra $20,000-$30,000 while I wait for more and better EV options from other manufacturers. In terms of another BEV SUV, the upcoming Polestar 3 looks pretty appealing. Here's to hoping that they make a performance model.

Basically what Ford has given us is an early warning system.

To avoid potentially frying this part I should refrain from WOT and fast charging. if I don’t do these two things I have a greater chance of going into slowdown mode potentially hundreds of miles from home.

this is not what I bought when paying 56k for the car.

I sold my Porsche Macan S to buy this. Great car but I wanted to go EV. Not a great move it seems. Can you imagine if you had a Porsche and they told you what Ford is telling you. Total BS. Guess I deserve that for buying a Ford. Just got home from an hour trip and when I drove I refrained from pressing throttle hard and now have to think twice about taking the car on a long trip so I can avoid fast charging. Just great.

I can see why people get disgusted. First Ford in 30 years and will be my last. a leap of faith that was not warranted.

I will place orders on other EVs and see what comes in first and also see what happens with the software and potential hardware improvements. I have ICE cars so I can make do using the MME locally.

I just hope the software works enough to keep people from breaking down and isnt giving false positives.

good luck to everyone.

Exactly my quandry. If there was a Macan EV today I would dump my MME at the taco stand right now and go and find one.

i4 m50
pro fast and good performance, better charging performance, much better interior quality
con frekin expensive, small inside with ICE packaging, what a butter nose ... I just don't know if I can do that

I5 / EV6 / G60
pro great charging, interesting design on all of them, the Ioniq 5 is as iconic as the MME in my mind in terms of design
cons smaller than the MME, so-so interior quality other than GV60, not as fast and understeery, dubious ADM

But bottom line, I have to have basic reliability in my car, and a company with a less short-sighted attitude towards its customers that does better basic engineering.

I'm actually thinking the Ioniq 5 N or EV6 GT might check all of my boxes, but it'll be a couple of months before I can dial for one of those. Just gotta keep my MME on double-secret probation and hope it doesn't fail with the new part before I can find something I like.

Polestar just scored the absolute WORST by a large margin for JD Power initial quality -- much worse than even Tesla.

Yikes. Umm... yeah.. I'd definitely go back to an ICE car for a few years.
Yeah well I've been having plenty of seat time in an ICE rental car this week anyhow.

If I needed a larger SUV and had the budget for it, the BMW iX would be high on my list. Probably a similarly specced one in terms of creature comforts compared to a loaded GTPE would be around $10K more, in the mid $80Ks.

What I like about the Mach-E is Ford decided to make it very distinctive looking yet not weird, they really struck a very good balance. Too many of the Euro EVs look aggressively conventional, and some of the Korean and Japanese EVs seem to overdo a sci-fi theme.

Teslas at this point are too ubiquitous and too expensive for what they are.

I would think the new part would be sufficient enough, if not well I think all the consternation is very warranted. I just find it hard to fathom how they would F it up again?

just gonna keep driving my car until I don’t

Y'all wanted something this is it.
Actually, what every single person, regardless of trim, who has had the HVBJB issue wanted was for their car to run properly. Nothing else. If the software update was intended to allow the dar to limp to a dealer, then the ball was dropped as dealers don’t know that and aren’t telling their customers.

On the other hand, if the software update was intended to permanently resolve the issue by monitoring the problem area and temporarily reduce power by a small amount, then there may be an issue.

Finally, if the software was designed to dampen the demand for a proper part in every Mach-e built before May 25, it’s not a fix at all and should not be advertised as one either here, by dealers, MME owners, or by the NTHSA. Again, we don’t know if that is the route Ford has chosen either.

I was going to order an i4, but did not like it. So, while I was there, I test drove an iX. It was very MME like, the regen in B was nearly identical to one pedal driving in MME. The price was $101k+ after NY tax (MSRP $95k+). I could see enjoying one, but to me it was like a bling version of MME. It felt a little big too, but if I was in that income bracket (not), I would probably try one (in blue/black interior!) At $80k, they are really stripped down, every permutation I would want matched the $95k sticker price.
