I took 3 adults, a dog, and ample luggage to Joshua Tree NP in my SR RWD Mach-E last summer and it went fine.
Nice, well that's encouraging, thanks for sharing!

I ended up getting the software update from my dealership today. I'm thinking I might as well go through with my planned trip. I don't think it serves me any better to leave my EV at home while I rent a car and pay for gas for this trip.

With that said, I do agree with most people on here (I'm finally all caught up in this thread, whew!). Ford needs to do better in addressing this issue and provide more than a software update.

Make a list of alternate vehicle options. Then NEVER EVER open up their discussion forums and you'll have a good chance at being a happy owner.
True very true. At least others and I could have a chance of having our vehicles sooner rather than later. Or as I and others will be doing is watching discussion boards about how they're not producing this week or month while some of the others that ordered a year ago are still waiting. We could be the rest of them that are driving Mach-E's are having recalls and or nearly bricking on the highway. Orrrr having blue cruise nearly seriouly injure/killing the occupants, being given a charger that doesn't handle high usage on a continuous basis, leaks from windows, battery connection issues, sync not working, and lane centering being questionable just to name a few issues that you yourself have or have not commented on and this one tiny comment I made drove you to be a burro (insert alternative naming convention) while ignoring the above issues you're aware of. Meanwhile after this tirade I will wait and suffer your further and probable burro remarks because I pray that this American company making vehicles in another country delivers a Mustang without a V8 worth having.

As a disclaimer I was not driving my ICE vehicle at the time I was replying but I was drinking and the above person who set me off I apologize and appreciate the comment just ignore everything after "True very true." I was too lazy to delete what I wrote as I have a lot of pent up negative energy namely the one I call spouse. Have a good night.

This is a safety issue and people can and might be killed through such a reduction in power, complete loss of locomotion, and lack of proper messaging on what is going on and what to do.
Bump.

Can you go into a bit more depth about when it failed.

Does it hit a brick wall and lose power suddenly?
How fast could you get it up to in this mode?

Could you pull out to pass and get half way by and bang you get hit with some sort of sudden limp mode? If so please include this in your report.

This would be dangerous and good for us to understand.

It would be nice to know how quick it happens and its extent to keep it in the back of my mind. Ford should explain exactly what we should expect and what we should do. Not robust enough pretty much ties it in a bow.

@Ford Motor Company it was not us we are just the ones that supported you on this new venture. I guess if their was still a safety issue with sudden lose of power they would inform owners? Mine only dies sitting in the cold with the contact stuck open so far so maybe some of us are golden?

Maybe the EV6 has not been out long enough, but…. I’m not seeing major issues yet.
Priced an ev6 gt. They would give me $10,000 on my trade in and I am off.

I can’t even find the GT on their site anymore. Where did you price one out?

Ford Motor Co., faced with billions in warranty claims while at the same time needing billions to develop electric vehicles, has hired an expert to slash costs, the Free Press has learned.

Josh Halliburton, who brings nearly two decades of experience as a quality turnaround specialist, explained why he was hired, how he plans to make cuts, and how consumers will be directly affected.

"I was brought in to help lead massive improvements in our quality level," Halliburton said.

Would you be supportive of a Twitter campaign now? When I tried before the recall was announced, you and almost everyone here were against it...
[on that note, is this getting any publicity anywhere? Haven’t heard boo on tv, newsfeeds, anywhere except this forum.

Well, I was going back to the #1 lane and letting BlueCruise get back up to speed when this happened, I think I touched the throttle somewhat but definitely not to the floor at all.

When it happened I got the "service vehicle soon" wrench. Power was very limited, but again as i was going downhill, it wasn't as noticible to me until after I got on the exit ramp. We guestimate you have about 30% of the normal power, instantly, completely without any other warning.

Here's GoPro footage of the failure (reposting again):

Bingo

Ford employees have described a culture that reinforces finger pointing rather than identifying and fixing problems.

"That's very much an observation I brought in early," Halliburton said. "We've got a history of β€” we spent a lot of time figuring out who to blame. So, is it a supplier issue? Is it a manufacturing issue? Is it a design issue? ... I no longer care who caused the issue. It's not important in my metrics and not important in how I look at quality."

After thousands of projects that is the lesson. Brainstorm to solve the problem and once you understand what the problem is the cause will become obvious. No finger pointing will be required. Problem with that is money and job security gets in the road. We will see how long he lasts I guess.

Guess we will see if that loyalty philosophy will happen here and our problem just gets solved professionally for loyalty reasons or if it is not worth it for 100K and the abracadabra software fix works for them again.

"Anytime transparency is there, it improves the optics for Wall Street."

Doesn't hurt on the loyalty side either.

Thanks sir I admit I did not read all pages and now feeling ashamed ;) . You did not tromp on it to see what it had and if it would still accelerate. Does not appear there was any real sudden lose of speed or anything. Feeling a bit better. Happened during old MacDonald and humpty dumpty how inappropriate.

I work hard to not let my conspiracy theory demon take over. With that said, it seems that from everywhere there is some complacency with Ford because, as a country, we want badly that they succeed, which I do too. White House, mainstream journalists, YouTube journalists and reviewers, and even part-time YouTubers are taking it easy on Ford. Nowhere I heard even a questioning when the recall was announced along the lines "Oh Geez, the recall says the part is not robust enough, and the proposed solution is software, those two things seem contradictory, let me dig deeper". I just saw praises and extreme "patience".
