Also, I timed the update. The installation instructions said my car would be drivable in 40 minutes.

But I timed it and it only took 17 minutes (until I automatically got a notification in my iPhone FordPass app that my car was updated and available — and FordPass was just running in the background like usual, not in the foreground).

YMMV.

Mine says it is installing tonight. Car is 3/21 build. Note however that I do have all the previous updates manually installed including Blue Cruise and multi day update scheduling.

p.s. I just got the recall letter from Ford today. The letter says I need to take it to the dealer because I need updates to receive the updates. Silly Ford, tricks are for kids. They can’t detect owner installed updates.

I'm also in the Early Access program with my build 2 car (Oct '21 build date). I just got the notification today that the update was ready.

It definitely checks for updates at times that are not your update schedule. The update schedule is only for when the available updates (that require the car to be offline for a bit) will be installed.

My update schedule was for 8:20am every day. I didn't have any updates available when I got to work at 8:45 this morning. But when I got in the car at 4:45pm, it said an update was available. I had three options available: install now, schedule the installation, or let it go ahead and install automatically at the next scheduled update time (8:20am tomorrow morning).
Correct. You are not setting a time to download or check for updates. The time you are setting is for when you won't need the car and it can install the update. If you only have it set for 1 day a week (obviously if you have that capability) it will download and sit there waiting to install until the set time

It checks for updates any time you drive.

Ford usually pushes out updates around 3pm eastern.

Well here is my experience on a road trip first day after install. Drum roll, everything went fine the first DC fast charger I used charged slow 36kw so I switched to a different one and then it was normal. 2nd DC charge went fine. 21 Premium AWD extended battery.

This was also my first trip with CR1 wheels and I am truly impressed at the range increase.

Went 433 miles today used 127.1kwh that's 3.41m/kwh at 75mph (80mph for about an hour because of traffic) with the AC on auto

Also, I recently was updated to 2.8.3 (I am in EA) and I now have (as of a couple days ago) the ability to set multiple days for scheduled updates.

I thought I had checked this right after the 2.8.3 update and it was still one day only. But when I went in Sunday or Monday, I was able to check off all the days.

You should also have an “Update Now” button to manually trigger an update that needs your vehicle to be off.

Updates installed over night! The Ford OTA fairy even opened the hood several times, very thoroughly done- See pic.
The OTA fairy also turned off 1 pedal driving and cleared all the radio stations. I love my OTA fairy.

Update went well for me, other then it is another one that erases settings. Dropped my 1PD, deleted charging locations, and deleted climate timings. The 1PD one really seems troublesome. You would think they would engineer a system so the basic way someone drives a car isn't changed by updating. Glad I know to watch for it, or it truly could be a safety issue.

Hey guys, haven't received my MME yet, maybe this weekend. Been reading the one-petal driving wasn't smooth. Just saw this thread and was interested in the improvements of the one-petal driving. Is it better now after the software update?

I've been a 1PD person from day one. Love it, always have. I can't say I have noticed much difference in it so far since the update.

When my car did the update it turned off 1PD. It also reset my preferred charging locations and a few other noticeable things.

1PD is awesome. It takes a few times to get used to things like backing up, but its amazing how fast you’ll make the switch.

The only time I turn mine off is when I bring it to a dealer, or in a snow storm.

To add the other commenters, I love 1PD. I didn’t even know what it was or that I had it until I read something about it hear on this forum. I tried it and figured it out in one or two drives. I never went back.

I think, in one update, a while ago, they detuned the regen braking so that it was more gradual. I got the new update last night but haven’t driven yet. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s as smooth as you let it be.
