First of all, the car shown is a concept car.

I would like the ability to broadcast sounds from my car, at reasonable levels, at times. For example, we attended a cruise, where people lined the streets in a town (not the Woodward Dream Cruise, much smaller) and cars filled the road circling several blocks. Every car made a unique sound, except ours. Yes, people looked over, but nothing like the ones that made noise. First at a light, I hit the pedal just a bit, and more looked, but again they're hearing nothing.

I don't want an exhaust noise, I want a futuristic noise. I do put a bluetooth speaker in at EV events, and when someone walks over I play the Jetson's car noise, but few even know what that is. And I can't easily tie any noise to speed or acceleration.

Normal electric motor sounds are fine with me but HATE fake sounds inside or outside the car!
126 dB is crazy loud IMO

For fun, I connected my phone to the exterior "backup beeper" speaker and played music through it. I thought I should arrive playing my theme song. It was hilarious, but my wife didn't appreciate it at all. ?
I wonder if I could get the Imperial March from Star Wars? ?

I like the look of the concept car and Dodge definitely knows their customer - I bet the sound goes over really well for them. Great play on their part. They've already got a post with 3 pages on a competitor's forum.

See that's the kind of fun thing I am talking about. I have a bluetooth speaker that can go in the frunk, but if it isn't used it shuts off. Trying to figure out how I can put in a physical speaker, wired to a digital player that allows me to select various things at various times, when at an EV show.

So you want something like this? Just need a small amp + speaker.

You should be able to get power from the otherwise totally useless frunk release button ?

Since I have frunk release, I could tap into power and when it senses the frunk unlatching it could play a tune like "Happy Days are here again, I have frunk release and Jimrpa doesn't, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah dah, Happy Days are here again!" ?

To each his/her own, but I too, am in the quiet camp.......
+ 1

The more people on EVs the better. Thus, the more variability available in the market the better.

I am quiet camp for sure but i'm certain that an EV Harley with fake noise is in development as well

Maybe only this sound
We saw a Formula E race in LA a few years ago. Back then when they would drive by the stands at speed they sounded like the Millennium Falcon.

Personally, I even have the sounds inside the car off. I love my silent car. But I realize for some this may be a thing. There is a very interesting discussion about this in this week's Wheel Bearings Podcast. Something to understand as well is that most of the "ICE Muscle Car Sound" is also "fake" now to an extent. Tuned to sound that way as they could also make those cars nearly silent.

it is so weird to me that performance ICE cars pump in fake engine sound through dedicated speakers in the cabin.

BMW M3
Toyota FRS 86
etc.

I think this is a one generation thing... new tech often tries to emulate old tech at first.

I think I've seen that the internal sounds on the Mach-E help some people with motion sickness too?

I was listening to a podcast and someone who claimed to know said that the focus groups these car companies are doing are asking for EVs to sound and shift like ICE vehicles. Hence, vehicles like this Dodge. I think there are Henry Ford and Steve Jobs quotes which would be appropriate.
Yeah, like “This newfangled automobile thing is sweet but I want to drive it with reins and can you make the horn whinny?”

The shift thing is mind boggling to me. The only reason there was a shifter is because the car wouldn’t work well without it. Now that there is this electric motor technology that doesn’t need a transmission to work, they want to retro engineer it back in. That’s kinda like going back to the surgeon 20 years later and asking for him to put your appendix back in.
