Today is the day I admit I was wrong to be so confident regarding PaaK. I have posted my fail proof system for getting PaaK to work 100% of the time. And it did, until today.

Today I tried all my tricks, including one @DevSecOps shared with me, and nope. Nothing worked. And even worse, I can't remember the emergency start code. I have not used it for 10 months and didn't write it down. I tried everything I could think of until it locked me out.

Fortunately I am out of town so I have my laptop bag with me, and the fob wrapped in foil. I unwrapped it and started the car.

After this experience I might actually be ready to go full fob. Maybe. I am definitely firmly on the fence.
I have an easy way to remember my password.

I have 9 nieces and nephews and my 3 children

i pick 2 of them and use their birth years along with their first names.

i Know which ones they are of course.

If you say it works as well as the fob, then you’re saying the welcome lights turn on while you’re approaching the car and still several feet away from it. I don’t think that has ever worked for me with PAAK. My phone is an iPhone 13 Pro (2022 MME) and I’m surprised 30% have such a consistent and nice PAAK experience.

For me, it doesn't work if the car is in the deep sleep phase, but it doesn't work with the fob either (I just tested it). In other conditions works pretty much every time.

1. Works for me, but not quite as well as the FOB
2. 2022 Premium 4XE
3. iPhone 13 Pro Max
4. Always treat it like a FOB, only thing is I am extra sure if I ever force close the FordPass app that I reopen it. Out of say 100 times using PaaK, 95 times it would work as expected, maybe 4 times it would take a second or third press of the door button for it to open, and that 1 time in 100 it takes 3+ presses or more than 5 seconds standing at the door.

No where near as good as fob. Sometimes have to start on app as it seems the Bluetooth is disconnected. App HAS to be up on the screen, not just running in background.

PAAK WAS ROCK SOLID FOR OVER A YEAR AND THEN 2-3 MONTHS AGO IT GOT WORSE! Update cause???

This is almost exactly my experience as well, but I'm using an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Lately, it might not connect to Bluetooth automatically, but PAAK has been solid.

1. I voted not as good as fob BUT ONLY BECAUSE every once in a while I get a "No Key Detected" warning. Other than that, the car always recognizes the phone upon approaching it, doors always open and car always starts (so basically just as good as the fob).

2. '21 GTPE. I do all updating myself through FDRS.

3. iPhone 14 Pro (13 Pro worked just as good).

4. The phone is in my back pocket when I approach the car. After opening the drivers door, I take the phone out of my pocket and place it on the wireless charging pad as I am sitting down. I do not unlock the phone. FordPass is always on and running in background. I have Allow Location Access set to Always and Background App Refresh turned on. (Bluetooth, Cellular Data and WiFi are always on).

1. Mine works just as good as the fob now that I have a pixel 7 pro and the update to support multiple bluetooth connects
2. 2022 CR1 eAWD
3. Pixel 7 Pro
4. Usually it's either in my pocket or my cross bag. I do make sure my Bluetooth is on. When I get into my garage it works.

It's been slower to connect reconnect to the Fordpass app after the OTA. Longer than usual

I would agree that the phone is more of the problem than the car itself.
Many people say this, but I am skeptical. I think it's the Mustang that's the problem in most cases.

My PAAK worked badly and intermittently for a full year. I recently had the dealer install a "software calibration" update (21P22), and since then PAAK has worked perfectly. Absolutely nothing changed on my phones - a four-year-old iPhone and a five-year-old Samsung Android. The difference in PAAK performance was like night and day, and the improvement is due to the car's software, not the phones.

I would hope the phone doesn't matter. If it did, then Ford should provide a phone with the car to ensure the two are compatible.

It is reasonable to expect phones to evolve as the years pass so PaaK would need to work even with phones that haven't even been designed yet. I wonder what people will do when mobile technology changes enough where the hardware in the car is no longer compatible? At that point they will have to carry a fob (or two phones).

We are in the process of changing modems on ChargePoint stations because 3G is no longer supported. I think we might start seeing vehicle subscription models become more popular because people will have FOMO and want new technology every year or so

A simple numerical pattern is even easier. Slightly less "secure" no doubt, but some of us have no great need of security on this password.

All I know for sure is we picked our Mach e up on May 07 2022 and I carried the key fob for couple weeks after and at the end of May I quit carrying the key fob and haven’t carried one since and it’s worked just fine.

Well, this is lovely and I'm glad that keyless is working as well for you as it now does for me.

But your comment has absolutely no connection with my comment, to which you replied.
