Owning both the EV6 and a Mach E I can say that adjusting anything on the EV6 is far easier (less distraction and looking away from the driving) precisely because of that toggling of HVAC and media controls on the capacitive panel. I find it funny that it’s “unanimously” criticized but it does require one singular mental memory to adjust to and that is new to people. You only look at one singular point on the panel and then know if it’s hvac or media controls. Also keep in mind when you toggle it all the “buttons” change so you can see that too. It’s painfully easy and a smart solution that doesn’t clutter my beautiful screen with crappy physical or virtual buttons that aren’t needed.
My wife would prefer physical buttons, I just use the voice command for almost everything it's much easier

I test drove an EV6, I loved that the climate controls were separate from the screen even if they were touch buttons, still made use of physical dials too. Very intuitive and no issue at all despite all the critic complaining.

I’d just be happy if Ford fixed the current issues. CarPlay connection and profile issues. I’m sick of trying to get my phone to connect while driving. Now I just drive around with the screen telling me to connect a phone. I drive 100 to 150 miles everyday and make 10 stops. Pretty damn annoying. Rarely did it fail before the update that caused it. Rarely does it connect now.
Completely agree with you. I have the same experience. CarPlay will be working fine when I shut off my car to go into say a store. When I return the car cannot connect to CarPlay no matter how many times I restart the car, unplug and plug back in the phone or even restart my iPhone. Please Ford provide us with a fix to this issue and make the madness stop!

I’ve had that happen before, the only thing that seemed to fix it was turning WiFi off for my phone. Restarting my phone usually does the trick too, but I haven’t had that happen in quite a while though.

I wish I worked for Ford and I could fix dumb design.

Yeah exactly this. The frunk/trunk/cam buttons should be permanent in the top of the screen since there's all that wasted space. Just make them grayed out until you put it in park for frunk/trunk or are 5mph or below for cams. Kind of like this:

Perfect. Eventually, it would also be good to make the "Home" and "Settings" buttons a little less bleh - but can't have everything I suppose. For example, I've resigned myself to the fact that a frunk button will never be activated in FordPass, so I've stopped using my frunk in protest (don't worry - I cleaned the shrimp out first).

They continue to double down on the dial instead of get rid of it. It looks terrible and is a redundant control as a volume control. On top of that it took the place of 2-4 soft buttons. Now they are using it as a way to adjust other things. From what I saw, one has to press a soft button (like a seat heater) and then use the dial to adjust. That's a two step process using two interfaces. Why not just design an improved interface or better yet improve/expand the voice command feature. I like that I can set the AC temp with voice but why not set the fan speed too!

Whoever put the dial there is stuck in the old days and should be removed from the project.
I love the knob. It's so east to reach over and turn it quickly without trying to aim your finger for small icon. The knob button presses in. If they design it so that a press of the knob button changes the modality, I think it will be great. No press for volume, one press for cabin heat, two presses for seat heater, etc.

Appreciate some of the updates they mention because they seem like they could be very helpful. However, using the dial knob for temperature control and heated seats adds another level of complexity to something that should be straightforward. My Teslas had the temperature with an up and down button, just like the Mach-e but all I had to do was tap the up or down button. One interaction, instant result, same with the heated seats. I tapped it once for high again for medium again for low again for off, simple. On the Mach-e,, it looks like you have to tap the temperature control and then twist a dial or tap the heated seat button and then twist a dial. It doesn’t simplify the current process, it just creates eye candy. Especially with those functions at the bottom of the screen requiring you to look off the road. They really need some expert UI folks. My experience giving feedback in focus groups on UI design always had me testing new features in a stopped car with no distractions.
I guess if it is too complex for you just don't use it? There are others ways that may make it feel easier for you. I am pretty good with volume knobs from cranking preamps/receivers over the years. I like it and think it will be better (more accurate) than the response of the current slider. Unfortunate your Teslas have no knobs as you may have found it easy to use.

I have no problems with the interface as long as when I set it it works. Lots of settings you can set to your liking but after that it is mostly get into the vehicle, carplay boots, stream my tunes. I like they are the same ones as on tractor all CD quality audio set up on my portable pocket device. How's tesla's carplay working?

The heated seats easily drop to one, the steering wheel heat taps off and the thermostat is already set. Heating worked well last winter can't complain. All settings just need to work when you set them but the logic and interface is fine for me. I don't mind tapping and the difference between one and two taps does not really matter as long as the result is the same.

Bring on the wheel ;)

Hopefully none, I wish they'd remove it all together to free up some memory on SYNC so its not so sluggish all the time.
Don't hold your breath. How long did it take M$ to let you uninstall their browser (explorer). If you could some would uninstall it, the games, XM etc. Leaving just the basics and an integrated smart device. No data/subscriptions/royalties in that thou. Just wait for the advertisements to start on the big screen then you won't be complaining ;). Not that sluggish here yet but making it leaner I have no problems with either. Just maybe not their goal.

Hate me or not, but man what Devu... Spent last two years as a Tesla owner. and read forums of over and over how everyone knew how to design the UI better than the car maker. LOL Everyone has an opinion of how and what they think makes sense to them because of how they drive the car. I have had my 22 Premium for 3 weeks. Love it. it is so better than what Tesla's UI was in some parts and Telsa was better than Fords on some parts. That is why we have so many car manufactures... pick one you like.. I did.. but man this is Devu all over....
