There's no Model e dealership list published yet. Farley just shared this number during an interview at the Automotive News World Congress.
Thanks - my concern is my local dealer of course as the next nearest is 350 miles away.

I suspect it will be some time before such a list is available. If I'm a dealer, I want to keep the fact that I didn't sign up, or didn't pick Elite, from customers, don't I?
You are probably right but as for myself I would like to know as I only have one dealer to chose from. And if the two in Anchorage opt out that would mean zero in Alaska (except maybe Juneau.)

Map of dealers within about a 45 minute drive of me. Ones that are close together could be their used lot, or a Ford Corporate yard. Figure 10 within 30 minutes. I know our dealer is Elite, he was on the dealers council that worked through the details.

We might relo to a less populated area someday. For fun I emailed the 3 dealers within 30 minutes and asked them if they signed up.

I'm surprised it's this many with that huge cost.

However, what we don't know is the commission amount. Maybe Ford is making it worth their while by offering a generous commission on the fixed-price sales that makes it all work (paid by high prices, of course). In essence, bribe em enough and they'll built the Taj Mahal if the numbers are favorable.

I was at my dealer on Saturday getting new shoes for my GTPE and the service manager told me he already has 3 techs trained and they signed up for the Elite.

Why?

Does not signing up means they'll be barred from servicing EVs in the future?

And if u are a dealer who signed up for especially Elite, I am guessing a huge banner and major announcement to publicize that too. Unless it’s a secret… for the time being but can’t imagine why that would be.

Ford CEO Jim Farley has just announced today that 1,920 Ford dealers (out of almost 3,000) have enrolled in the Model e program for 2024 to 2026. Here's the breakdown of what tiers the participating dealers chose:
  • 1,659 chose the Certified Elite tier.
  • 261 chose the Certified tier.
Under the program, Ford dealers can choose from one of two tiers to become “EV certified.” The lower tier requires a $500K initial investment and includes:
  • Repair and maintenance
  • One public DC fast charger
  • No EVs to show (BTO only)
  • No presence on Ford.com.
The higher “Certified Elite” tier includes two public DC fast chargers, demo units, rapid replenishment, and a presence on Ford.com but will cost around $1 million to $1.2 million.

Dealers not opting to participate in the Model e program will have another opportunity to participate come 2025.

do you know if the L3 chargers MUST be owned/operated by the Ford Dealership, or can they be owned/operated by a third-party ?

and... since they must be public-facing, and many Dealership lots are gated/locked at night... do you know if the L3 chargers can be 'remote' as long as they are within xx miles of the Dealership?

Probably most city dealers, and fewer rural ones, I'd guess. Pretty much the opposite of the needs for DCFC.
I would think city dealers will definitely need them with apartment and rental properties not having access to L2 as readily available. That will be many peoples only way to charge as the transition to EV speeds up.

I don’t think they have to be owned by the dealership, but they have to be part of the Blue Oval charging network.

I hope there's very very little of that. Full-time DCFC is so much worse in so many ways vs L1/L2. Especially for the grid, since nighttime charging is good for the grid (off-peak) and daytime is bad (peak). And the most likely time people would use it is the worst (after-work duck curve).

Leaving out the part that they just raised their cost structure by $1.2M and will pass that on in the form of higher prices, of course. ?

Thanks for the update!!

hopefully the dealer that I was trying to buy from it is no in the list…..bad experience.

in contrast, the dealer that I end up buying from was excellent!
