I must be one of the few people who always had my screen minimized so I could see the larger tire pressure widget. I’m obsessed with knowing (and adjusting) my tire pressures at all times. If I could install a system to inflate/deflate my tires from inside the car like the old military hummers, my life would be compete.
Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised when I got out of work today and my UI was different. No notice, no update check mark to push, no choice really, just turned the car on and there it was. Fortunately and ironically I had just watched this video during my lunch break today so I was well prepared for my drive home. Thanks for the video and I do like the update (other than the tire pressure uncertainty now).

It rained a lot this weekend. So I made a video.

Scoopman, I appreciate the video. This already helps me to quickly understand the update of my new Synch functions.

I do regret one change... the inability to choose to have the Synch "drawers" at full height under the map display like before. I had found a constant display of the tire pressures and of the electricity consumption really useful during long-distance trips. Now, I have to "click through" to see either Drawer's values.

I write this in full understanding that any and every change will find advocates and disparagers.

Nice video!

Great description of the changes Andy. Not sure if it’s for me simply because the most useful feature won’t work in my car since Ford wouldn’t take money for the cameras because the metal roof was a more useful thing to me. 🤪🐩

I will probably throw this update into my car at some point but I’m not sure it’s worth the license fee for FDRS just to get the knob-control for seat heat and HVAC. 🤷‍♂️🐩
You're always welcome to visit if you want to use my license .... it makes CarPlay connections more reliable, and seems generally faster for most stuff.

The loss of the active widgets is definitely the most controversial aspect of this update, judging from the comments I've seen in response. I wonder if there was a way for Ford to have kept that affordance for maximizing/shrinking the main app window while growing the app space like they did.

Do you have OTA updates turned off? It will get to you via OTA... no FDRS required.
My MME is stuck in the KC Twilight Zone for at least another 4-5 weeks according to my newest email today. When I finally take delivery is it custom or expected that dealer will install all updates, do I have to request or do I have to wait for my OTA delivery? Thanks.

The Bad: dealers generally don't hook your car up to FDRS and update it prior to delivery. Ford doesn't pay for the dealer's time to do this.

The Good: I assume your car is a 2023 (perhaps?) and as such, it should probably come with this software on it.

If you don't have this on delivery, it should come sometime soon via OTA....

Yeah 23. Been built since Nov so not sure how long this has been out. I could have gone to KC to pick up myself in this amount of time. Thx.

Supposedly all of the 2023s have an earlier version of this software, but without the persistent camera button.

Excellent video! Wish me luck, taking the car into the Sunnyvale dealer tomorrow to see if they can untangle my sw, enable OTA updates, enable BC etc. 🤞I’ll end up in a better place than the previous 6 or so attempts in San Jose.

It rained a lot this weekend. So I made a video.

Ask for Andersen, I've had good experiences with him.

They set me up with Kristofer, but I’ll tell my better 1/2 to ask for him should he be available. I’ll be there to pick up the car, hopefully at end of day, Ford has an engineer on standby should the need arise. 😉

Nice overview. I completely agree the tactile feel is important for safety and ease of use - so bringing this back and going away from the trend of touch for everything is definitely good. You are right - a fully touch experience for most everything means one's attention is focused on trying to keep your fingers on the control, which means distracted from driving. Rather, the tactile feel, one will be able to keep ones eyes on the road while adjusting something.

I think you probably don't have the camera button yet...
I'm wondering if any of the cars with the missing camera button have an update waiting in FDRS....🤔
