The problem with lemon cars is that you save when buying then give it all back when selling. It all evens out in the end.
Won't sell until it stops driving, but that is what I do with cars. However the depreciation won't be that much on 2nd transaction or I would have tonoay someone to take it lol

This! Drives me nuts too.

People never complain about the other tools they use in life are depreciating assets. Refrigerators, utensils, mattresses, TVs, audio equipment, furniture, mechanics tools, all depreciate just as much or more than automobiles do.

Any economic evaluation of an automobile purchase should be judged solely on how much it costs to drive on a per-mile basis, that's it. The longer one amortizes the initial purchase cost over miles driven is the biggest determining factor of how much a personal automobile costs to own and operate. Resale factors into that calculation, but keep the vehicle long enough and the deprecation falls out of the calculation.
Exactly how many people trade in their refrigerators for a new one. Yes none of these things will appreciate but the comparison is ridiculous, many of those things will last decades.

in todays world you can’t even get 2 sub zero refrigerators for 1 MME

If you want to take cheap shots, isn't FSD a "paid flavor" of Autopilot?

https://www.tesla.com/support/autopilot

It's good to learn this stuff, but I have a Jewish spouse, so buying a Tesla will never be an option.
Autopilot is not Full Self Driving.

As for the offense you’ve taken to Elon, you’re not up to date on that particular story. His original retweet foolishly failed to point out that he was retweeting only with respect to the ADL (and it is legitimate to point out the ADL’a hypocrisy). He subsequently explained that. I’m certainly not going to go further down that rabbit hole, but Musk is pro-Israel.

Yes, I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Tesla. Ugly and everyone and their mothers have one.

The only entity that can not limit your free speech is the Government.
And we all learned that the Government found easy ways circumventing the technicalities by putting pressure, incentives, colluding, etc. with private businesses. If anybody doubted that, Twitter files exposed that well.
I've never been a fan of Musk, primarily because of him turning Tesla into a cult, but his fight for free speech can only be admired. I'm glad he has enough FU money to win this fight.

I typed out a huge, long response, but deleted it because I didn't want to go down that rabbit hole. But I will say this. It seems the only one that is calling Elon an anti-Semite are the same ones that is supporting the "other team" as Biden (The Big Guy) would say.

Just remember that no group is monolithic despite the media trying to make it that way.

Not really. If you take a minute to go through to check out on their website. no harder than buying a widget on amazon, it gives you the total price, out the door. That is much faster and more transparent than a dealer. Try calling up a dealer and asking them to email you a sales contract with an out the door price and breakdown.
I stand corrected re: the total price. That doesn't, however mitigate the high APR. I was no math major in college, but an APR of 7% on a $50K car is an extra $7.5K more compared to the 0% over 4 years offered by Ford.

Again, correct me if my math is bad. ?

Yes the tribalism is just gross. But it starts with the media. You can find dozens of articles about the supposed “anti-Semitic tweet” but very little about his subsequent clarification.

yup, but not everyone needs a loan or would get the loan through Tesla. they are free to get a lower loan through their credit union or bank. And the 0% interest loan is not available on every car and not everyone qualifies.

Things have improved a lot since that video was made. The piping was redesigned. You'll have the newer HVBJB. The software is WAY better than it was two years ago.

The DC charging speed is still slow on the Mach-E and the charging network more limited.

Mach-E is better if you want something that looks better, but don't take a ton of road trips. And if you want a screen to look at in front of you instead of off to the side. You also get actual parking sensors that work properly and hands-free driving ability.

Model Y is better if you take road trips and want a reliable easy charging network.

Just know that Ford is extremely slow with software compared to Tesla.
One big point you missed is the heat pump!. Tesla has it down to a science with the heat pump. The cabin actually heats up faster then a ICE vehicle. And it will drive you out, I was shocked. Heat pumps didn't show up on Tesla till after 2020. Huge improvement!

Again, he isn't fighting for free speech. The Government isn't infringing his right to his opinion. His corporate sponsors are not saying that he doesn't have a right to say stupid things. They are just saying they will not advertise on a site owned by someone who can't control his mouth and keeps making offensive comments. If you seriously think major advertisers are going to stop supporting X because of your conspiracy theories, rather than the potential loss of customers, then you can't be reasoned with.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a 23 Mach E Premium with extended range battery, but I just watch Sandy Munro's comparison of the Mach E's thermal system nightmare vs, the Model Y. In addition I am concerned about downtime with HVBJB and other issues. Is this all blown out of proportion? Would you buy another Mach E knowing what you know now? Thanks in advance
The thermal situation is why I did not buy a Mach E. Its poorly engineered regarding the powertrain. The rest of the car is nice, though.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

You should also know that MY is cheaper by a lot and has a better residual value. I would not completely dismiss the MY without driving it first. I like my MME, but if I were to make the decision today, it’ll definitely be a MY.
I drove two Model Y Performance before I noticed the GT P at the local dealer. I have to hand it to Tesla regarding the software. It's great, and the system moves quickly

People have talked some about how Tesla quality has improved. I assume they're talking from personal experience; however, my experience was different.

Squeaks and rattles in both cars that I drove. One car had some kind of filament in the paint that I think people really should have noticed. The other car's rear floor flexed visibly when I moved to get out of the car. I'm 6'2" and 15 stone. It's not like I'm an elephant.

Both cars were FSD and don't even get me started. Blue Cruise is more reliable, even though it's not designed to work in all situations. An all-camera system is not the answer, not at this point.

The GT P cost more than the MY P would have cost, but to me it was well worth it.

I could type quite a bit about suspensions alone, including ride quality. And noise.

We all make mistakes when pressed, but he should know by now that social media is not his fortè and he should step back.

He referred the other day to trying to blackmail him with money. Nobody's trying to blackmail him. We have just decided that it is illogical to continue associations.

I don't keep up with all news media, but I know that BBC explained exactly what happened with the perception of an antisemitic post. But I agree with you that some outlets are not behaving responsibly.

1. Munro's entire schtick is increasing manufacturing profit / efficiency. If you watch a few of his videos (btw, if he was half as good as he thinks he is, he wouldn't have time for youtube vids) the script becomes pretty apparent: Everything made of steel should be made of aluminum. Everything aluminum should be plastic. Everything that's 2 pieces should be one. Everything that's welded should be molded.

His perfect car would be assembled entirely out of those shirty plastic clips that always break and as a consumer, I don't really want him to like my car.

All that said, not aware of any reliability issues with the MachE cooling system, so I don't think there's any reason to be concerned.

2. HVBJB. My FIL just had his replaced as part of the recall. They came to his house, picked it up, then returned it the next day. Most dealerships have this figured out.

Our GT was made the 1st or 2nd week that the new HVBJB became available. It has 22k hard miles on it - we regularly take it to our cabin in the mountains - each trip has several thousand feet of elevation gain and loss at high speeds. No issues with the car (or the Job 1 car we had before it).
