I've been a proponent of the Ford Mobile for 'daily use' charging... partly because it was 'included' with my purchase, and partly because it worked flawlessly charging my '21, and my wife's BMW PHEV 330e, until now. Yesterday I got a slow charge with charge rate bouncing around between 3kw and the usual 6kw, and the normal solid blue light went back and forth to orange. It's been warm, but my garage doesn't get above 90F, and I never had the charger show orange before, so I figure the Ford Mobile needs to be replaced...

Unfortunately, I am a little past 36months, and I don't know if the Ford Mobile would be covered by 3yr or 8yr warranty ?

I've used mine to charge about 80,000 miles worth of EV charging, and am wondering how many miles others have gotten out of theirs so we have some numbers for @Ford Motor Company .

I am not gonna vote because I have only used the Ford mobile about 5 times in 3.5yrs of ownership (27k mi). The times I have used it were L1 opportunities where I was visiting somewhere, but also not in a rush.
I would expect if I opened the trunk and plugged it in today, it would work. Maybe I'll test it.

Mine’s made it almost 50k miles. It’s still in the original wrapper under the trunk floor.

still working "fine" (still use it religiously for our charging needs) 31,595 miles later...
ditto, it does bounce between 3kw-6kw, but it's at night when we charge, thus no biggie. on the hotter days, have got the yellow or amber light, I usually unplug it and let it cool off then plug it back in.

My DeWalt Mobile charger is 32 amps 7kwh like the Ford Mobile , it is equally unreliable and gets worse in hot weather.

Mine made it to the first power surge after a power outage, a few months after I bought the 2021.

Also not voting. I have used mine twice: One time at L2 for about 2 minutes, once over night at L1 in a cold, damp environment. It didn’t put enough juice in the car over night so I bought a Brand T Mobile and a 10-30 pigtail so I could get a 24A charge at my co-worker’s duck club. ?‍♂?

Where's the "Hardly ever use it, and still working" option? Mine stays in the trunk all the time, and it's primarily for backup/emergency use in my case.

It's covered by the 3 yr/36,000 mi warranty only.

your case would be at the top... less than 10k miles charged, still working.

and thanks for answering warranty question, I was guessing it fell into the 36mo coverage.

I used FMC exclusively for about 6 months and have since installed a permanent one. The FMC is still working fine and I use it occasionally when travelling.

Company[/USER] .
This sounds like a main relay contact failure on one of the hotlines internal to the unit. It will not likely work long like that since the contact will most likely heat up, burn itself out and fail permanently. I think this is the most common failure with this unit.

yup, I've got a replacement ordered.... charge rate is bouncing between 1kw and 3kw , with occasional burst at 6kw.... something is frying inside.

I was going to get an Emporia for $400, but found a Vevor L2 for just $157, just to give it a try.

I have both the Emporia and a portable adjustable Vevor. I use the Emporia daily and it is awesome. I use the Vevor at 16 amps when I dial down the Emporia to 32 amps to charge both the Lightning and MME at the same time on a 60 amp panel. So far so good for both of them. Definitely the Emporia is better built but both work as advertised.

We used ours three times weekly for a year-and-a-half and then switched over to the BMW mobile charger when the wifey got her iX. However, the BMW charger failed after about 6 months - not sure if because of a storm and surge or just faulty. Instead of using the mobile charger, since, we were charging two vehicles, we put the Grizzl-E dumb charger in our garage. The Ford charger works, but we now have only used it three times in the last year-and-a-half. Once it was orange and the plug was super hot. I unplugged it. After it cooled, I used it the next day without problems.
