New All‑Electric Ford Puma Gen‑E

Ford Mustang Mach-E Ford Puma Gen-E announced in Europe puma

Ford Europe announced the Puma Gen-E this morning. I'd love to see them bring something like this to the US market. GM sold a lot of Chevy Bolts and is bringing back the EUV in late 2025. There is a healthy market here for a small EV that can be optioned in that $33k to low $40k range.

The Mach E and the F-150 Lightning are each fine for what they are, but are each sort of niche vehicles. Their announced strategy of bringing out a commercial EV van in 2026 and two new EV pickups in 2027 also seems to ignore this market segment.

Production of the Ford Escape ends soon. Could this be a replacement?

The Fusion was a best seller and Ford killed it. The Ranger was a best seller and Ford killed it only to bring it back as a midsize truck. They can’t build enough Mavericks and thought no one wanted a small truck. The Escape sells well and they are killing it. Who is minding the store?

Puma is B-Segment (based on the Fiesta platform) thus can't be an "Escape replacement". The Escape is C-Segment sized (based on the Ford Focus platform, Bronco Sport shares this platform as well).

The Focus and Fiesta are some of the best selling cars in Europe and they're killing them too.

I hope this is brought to the US. I think the narrative that the US only buys trucks has been stretched too far.

People can’t buy ford cars if they are no longer made. I wonder who makes these decisions.

Is this on the MEB platform or was it internally developed? It looks fantastic and I’d love to see it in the USA but its battery pack of 40+ kWh needs a 50% bump in capacity to make it viable in America.
