I had an issue last night where I got into my car and tried to start it and it said "Stop Safely now" and wouldn't let me put the car in drive. I hooked up a battery tender and it showed the low voltage battery almost full (definitely not low) but after letting it charge for about 15 sec I got back in and tried to start the car and it turned right on. This morning the car also started up just fine after not having the battery tender on it over night. I have an OBD II reader so I hooked it up this morning and the following fault codes were stored-

HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE - BATTERY DISABLED

My VIN is 3FMTK3SU5NMA37487 Would someone be able to tell me what could be going on with my car? Of course I'm slightly out of warranty at 39,000 miles so I'd prefer not to have to pay the dealer for a diagnostic fee.

Thanks for any help!!
The cause of the SOBDMC disabling your drive train was a BECM fault that basically (from what it looks like to me) is a low 12V battery connection, or condition, given what it is that the diagnostics are having you check.

I don't think you'll find this LVSD open if you decide to check it, but they want you to check that anyway. It seems to me that it's more likely that it was a low 12V battery that set this all in motion.

You currently don't show that these codes are still 'in effect" as active ongoing faults.

Thank you! So should I just put the battery tender on it for a while and it should be fine or could something be causing the battery to be low?

You have a P0ADA code set. The cause is listed as "Hybrid/EV Battery Positive Contactor Control Circuit Range/Performance". Looks like HVJB replacement time to me.

Thank you very much, that's what I was afraid of. It was replaced once, but I see many that have had it done several times. Is this covered by the power train warranty that I'm about to run out of? Is there a more robust part available? Thanks again!

It should definitely still be covered. And there may be a newer revision of the HVJB available than the one you had installed a couple of years ago (I believe it was 2022?).

It's showing a 12V SOC of 89% right now.

When you connect the tender, you're connecting it up to the jumper points right? Not to the battery directly?

That sounds right, I hope that there is something that will last longer than that. I'm still ticked about the 5 sec deal, sure wish they could have a solution for that. The new models don't have this 5 sec limit, correct? Thank you

Had a meeting run late so heading home when I felt it was safe (most of the deere hunkered down) I ran it up to the mid 80 mph couple times and then once to a little over 90 full pedal for just a couple seconds but that must have been enough. That's a sad deal if that's all it takes.

Yes, a big part of why I got a 2024 was the longer limit on the performance boost. It now extends past the quarter mile, so you can get a good run out of it in the 2024 and newer GT. ??

Even though I got some sweet incentives and a good trade-in, what I don't like is the car payment. LOL. ??

I only had the tender on it for a few minutes and yes just to the jumper points.

Well it's good that you know about it now. This way you should be getting the latest and greatest HVJB that they started putting in all the '23 models and newer.

Need car for a 7 hour round trip today and over the weekend, but will let you know.
If all my posts suddenly disappear you know it went wrong and I'm playing dumb for warranty purposes ?

I think it's a shame that there wasn't some type of upgrade done. When I bought mine the dealer didn't know anything about it, I found out about it here after I owned it for a bit. Thought it was odd how it pulled so good and then fell flat. Must take a significant hardware upgrade.
