Long form or short form for the birth certificate?
Don’t we have a resident Hawaii person who can clarify that? ?

I think you missed a few pages of discussion……

He cited a direct conversation from Darren Palmer.
Ok, I didn’t see where he spoke to Darren Palmer (that’s the British guy I was thinking of) directly. I only saw the ambiguous cite of non-specific Facebook websites.

I respect that... I just don't think the FMC account has any pull whatsoever.

Also there's been a lot of "entitlement" threads lately. This, key fobs, etc. While Ford might be modeling some things after Telsa let's keep in mind that Telsa's larger complaint is that it's more of a computer and less of a car in that build quality suffers. Tesla has arguably had 10+ years to improve and they still have issues. Pick your poison.

My opinion, which I know is a mixed bag, is that I purchased a vehicle with 88 kWh available. IF I get more because they are generous (key word vs being entitled) then I'm grateful. If I don't, they aren't by any means required to and as a consumer I will only expect what I was promised.

Messaging on the other hand with Ford is horrific. I think they are all competing to be politicians, one day it's one thing, the next it's something different. Even though I don't think it was ever specifically stated that we would get 3 kWh more, it was implied. On my car it's a whole 6 miles ... whoop-de-do
The issue for me is not 3kwh. The issue is that the promise of OTA keeping the software evergreen is clearly being broken. Without OTA, my MME purchase would have been a model Y. I’m even willing to pay a subscription for updates but not getting them is a deal breaker for me.

If not, then ford needs to issue a statement clarifying that they were misquoted (or better, get in the phone with the reporter and have the reporter clarify that they quoted ford incorrectly). None of this is “difficult”.
You take me too seriously! ??

So if you're willing to pay, then either
  1. Buy the equipment yourself and do it
  2. Pay someone with the equipment to do it.
  3. Find someone like myself who has updated vehicles for others at no charge
Even if you did get the OTA's that I and other's could flash for you, what are you expecting from it? Tic-Tac-Toe or notepad? There's nothing in these OTA's that does anything significant to the car. The biggest update is the customer satisfaction update with the charging curve fix and it's an in person update. And if you want to compare to Tesla, well they have been waiting since 2016 for FSD and some paid 10k for it and still don't have it.

I get that Ford needs to improve the OTA experience and no doubt they are working on getting their sh*t together. I just get confused by the rage from people over tic-tac-toe...

Tic tac toe is not what I’m concerned with. Nor is anybody else… I expect the charge curve update, ABS update, and blue cruise for starters. The frunk button would also be nice.

The same hardware with different software is a different car.

I’ll likely go the FDRS route but am aggravated that I have to spend time on that to get software updates.

btw, if the software updates don’t matter then why are they produced?

I'm not defending Ford's crappy OTA strategy. On the contrary I've been outspoken about how it sucks. The reason for the majority of these updates is because there's edge case scenarios which are resolved with the updates. If that happens to be the case then the dealer will update the module like they have done on almost all cars, across all mfg's for decades. Audi, Ford, GM etc all have software updates that aren't OTA and if your car needs them then they get done. Every time I take my Audi in for service they check if there's updates and install them if there are any.

The rage over OTA updates is what I don't understand because for most people they don't get anything from it. The charge curve update is in person, just like all cars have been for years and years. Bluecruise is not getting pushed OTA yet or in person. You just can't get it yet, end of story. Telsa is no different, they have been holding out FSD (not comparing it to BC) for 5 years and people paid 10k for that.

Most people on here have no idea why they are mad. They just join the bandwagon and scream OTA at the top of their lungs, because why not...

I think this idea of getting what you think you are owed or getting what other people in a similar position are getting, is a very powerful thing.

I think it takes effort to put thoughts like that aside and not get caught up in it if it’s a trivial thing at issue.

The 1.7.1 Sync update was sort of the peak of this - lots of people absolutely fuming that they didn’t get tic tac toe and a notepad in their car, and most will probably never use either a single time after seeing that they have it.

If I recall correctly, it should be listed as an option under the FDRS Toolbox tab, along with the options to program individual modules. Not sure if you have to be actively connected to the car to see these options. By the by, if you've been running the available updates via FDRS, I suspect your car likely wouldn't need to receive any OTAs.
Thanks. Actually what I'm saying is that the vehicle didn't receive a single update until November when I purchased a subscription to FDRS. The initial list of updates I received was considerable.

Tracking. I ran into the same thing, although mine did appear to receive some of the OTAs. Still had numerous updates waiting. In line with the overarching topic of this thread, I'm skeptical, but hopeful that Ford will continue to provide these updates. The lack of a well-defined update period (e.g.: we will provide updates for x years after date of purchase; akin to what Google does with Android updates for their Pixel line of phones) does make me nervous though.

I think I remember Palmer saying something along the lines of evaluating drivers' charging history and rewarding based on healthy use of the battery. For instance, those who charge mostly via Level 2 and seldom charge above 90% might get access to the extra 3 kWh of battery as well as higher peak DCFC rates. I have no idea how they implement this (or whether they will even attempt to), but wouldn't Ford have the ability to do something like that?

Alternatively, they could save the extra battery capacity and add it back in via OTAs as 2021 MMEs age out and use the extra capacity to offset natural degradation. Say, a car with 100,000 miles is out of warranty; why not allow for access for 92 - 93 kWh at that point? Assuming that a MME owner with 100K miles has lost at least 5-6 kWh of capacity at that point, unlocking that extra capacity would offset most of that loss.

My car got the 1.7.1 update. Never played the tic tac toe game once. Used the calm screen shortcut a couple of times but it sticks and doesn't come back sometimes so I quit doing that. My favorite feature of that update is artist/song notifications now work in satellite radio. I have been missing that feature from my previous Ford BEV.

Can they reward me with more capacity or more than 5 seconds of power if I wrote them a check to buy their product?

Giving extra capacity to people based on not using the full capacity would be an odd reward.

You didn’t eat all of your dinner? Congratulations!! Here is some more food!
