This is because the May release wasn't OTA and due to its proximity to the recall version.
Is that because they can not OTA these May updates or just some updates don't happen unless you go in for them? I prefer the module updates and not so much the puzzles. Confused how we are to keep our cars hardware up to date without having to go into service to make that happen.

With how huge the response was that I need to get this recall done right away for my safety I agree not a good look for sure. If it is not broke. Why did I just turn auto OTA off as soon as I saw this recall; guess I was not interested in being a Ford software beta tester after what I have seen to this point. Here is to hoping at some point they get the software figured out and all of us on the same versions.

This all goes down on a Friday? ;)
You get a part c, everyone gets a part c :)
Sounds great does the C part work?

Boy this is making my trip tomorrow sound more and more entertaining. Place your bets! 2021 Ext AWD going for 775 miles in 110 degree heat at 80mph limits with 13-14degree grades… I’ll be back with a “made it” or “one of us” post tomorrow night I’m sure. I *DID* install the recall myself via FDRS while it was offered along with my May updates etc.
Fingers crossed for you!

Took my Job 1 Prem AWD ER in on the 27th for the glass recall.

Service manager also offered to do the 22S41 recall and the 10k at the same time. I said to go ahead and I got the car back on the 5th (same windshield! ?) .

They walked me through the printout where they went over what they had done (which included the 21G01 I had done myself and they took credit for  ) and sent me on my way. All updates applied.

So I now have the BECM at NJ98-14C197-BD and the SOBDMC at LJ98-14G069-BBH.

Interestingly, PTS this morning shows that the 22S41 recall has disappeared for my VIN (I did sign the paperwork for all the performed actions listed before being allowed to pick up the car).

But for some reason these are still showing in PTS:

But 22S41 isn't there anymore.

I guess it's not a thing anymore.

My dealer pulled the update yesterday afternoon on my GT, and applied it, supposedly.. but I don't trust them so who knows. Prior to that they did about 5 updates a few weeks ago, but left a bunch of updates undone because they said they were not part of any service bulletin or recall. Not sure the point of all these misc updates if they don't apply them when in for service or as an OTA. Never had any OTA on my GT.

Basically got the update so I wouldn't have to be stranded and towed. That said, I get the feeling the update makes it more likley to get the fault sooner. We'll see what happens.
If it was yesterday then they likely applied the May update which was available for Job 2’s.

Calm winds and clear roads @ZuleMME!
The question I have is how many DCFC stops do you have to make?

@scoopman I’m sorry you had do deal with this HVBJB failure on your family vacation, and thank you for turning lemons into lemonade by keeping us all informed on your travails with the OTA update and HVBJB replacement.

I do think I will take 101 down for my next SoCal trip until this is all sorted out.
I compared and 101 has just as much elevation, is much longer with no side roads for many stretches and has less Ford dealers along the way.

We felt that I-5 was still the better choice playing it safe for our drive home.

Sorry hoping not to hijack this thread, but is there a more specific name for the May update so I can google/search the forum to read up about it?

The thing is, I read the dealer instructions on how to apply the update, and they are basically generic and not properly thought out. Examples of this include mention of automatic transmissions needing to relearn shift points (seriously) and no mention of what version numbers at minimum need to be flashed and in which modules in order to comply with the recall.

It just tells the dealer to select PCM and apply all the updates until done. You can have a dealer who follows all directions for the 22S41 Safety Recall apply the May software updates to your car unwittingly and tell you you're protected when we know you don't have the software they just pulled.

This is why some communication to Ford's dealer network in a public manner is critical for them before tomorrow because more owners have appointments.

I wonder if they have already sent out 50,000 pieces of legally mandated Recall notice instructions in the mail that are now wrong...

Anyone DM'ing me to run VINs ... I'm not ignoring you but FDRS is not operational at this time. Every Sunday they do maintenance so I will get to those when Ford lets me.

Since you have PTS can you check to see if it's OTA deployment status is changed for any VIN that doesn't have it?

My PTS requires permissions for each VIN I lookup. I am not getting OTA connected vehicle info for my own VINs. I doubt I'd have better luck with somebody else's VIN. I'm on a 72hr license.

It was never OTA. It was just an update. But it can confuse many people who see it and think it's the Recall Software because it's the same modules. In FDRS unless you specifically look for the version number to compare it you'll never really know what you are updating.

Sounds great does the C part work?
No one knows yet. We assume it does. But It's too early to tell. From what I know, the new part is supposed to be spec'd wayyyyyy above what the car will draw power wise.
