What does it ultimately feel like when the 5 second drop off happens? I assume the car continues to accelerate but at a reduced rate. Also is the 5 second just for the equivalent for a fully open throttle or is it for any level of acceleration beyond a certain threshold?

I believe Ford just doesn't want to admit it under engineered battery components and at this point would cost too much to change it until they do a total upgrade of the system. A little disappointing but not enough for me to not love this car.

I understand for marketing reasons why Ford used the Mustang name, but this is not why I bought the car. I didn't buy it to drag race, drive 150 mph or be one of those idiots that has to be faster then everybody else that weaves in and out of traffic. The car is fast, but not the fastest. It is a well built car but have to remember this is their initial entry into a new market for them. So they are learning on the fly the electric car world, the complete revamp of technology in the car that controls everything. I have to believe they will continue to get better and continue to make this car better. Unfortunately, once the car goes into production the physical components of the car are what they are. This is why there is a 5 second limit to the power. If this is not what you want, then sell the car and buy a different car. I am going to enjoy the car for what it is, it is still a great car.

I look at the car of the electric big brother of the Ford Focus :) :) It's a hatch/crossover/SUV, not a sports car, not a Mustang. Sorry, don't mean to upset people, but it is what it is. I would have preferred Ford name it the Fusion-E if they wanted name recognition.

I’ll stand by being tricked. Some of us have been here for almost two years now. Some of us decided we wanted it before it was even available. Not only did Ford advertise this car as a track ready car, they also never mentioned that it doesn’t “perform” worth a damn in cold weather.
Also, I don’t believe the first GT was delivered more than a year ago.
I agree with all of this except the delivery of the first GT. If memory serves, @0t60-3.5 took delivery in August last year? It was Ford's one GT that was delivered to keep their promise that the first GTs would be delivered in the summer. ??

All of us who waited on reservation for a year or more, then waited after placing our orders were subjected to these exciting videos of GTs getting beaten on the track or at least being photographed static on a race track property. We bought into the hype and then we were disappointed. ??

I stand corrected then. Thank You. Your memory outshines mine. ?

Yes, good memory... I took deliver of the GT PE on August 19th, 2021.

"What does it ultimately feel like when the 5 second drop off happens? I assume the car continues to accelerate but at a reduced rate. "
It still accelerates, but at a much reduced rate. I've had it on the drag strip for 8 total runs, and after the 5 seconds, I always get the feeling like: c'mon - you have more than that!

"Also is the 5 second just for the equivalent for a fully open throttle or is it for any level of acceleration beyond a certain threshold?"
I'm not sure on that specific question. I think it's a certain threshold, so if you constant accelerate at a low rate, the 5 second power limit may not kick in.

I do agree that Ford should have let consumers know about the 5 second rule. At least put an asterisk somewhere so it was stated that the car will only have full power for 5 seconds. I would probably have still bought the car regardless. Others, may not have purchased it with this limitation. I also agree that it would have been great to be like the other BEV's and have full power without limitations. I do not see it as a feature to drag race or put it on the track, but simply to be able to use it without limitations. I will say that with all the instant power and the cost of the car, I have actually mellowed my driving a bit. However, I do like to romp on it occasionally. ?

Who knows, in a year or two, someone will come up with a hack to modify this and people can do it at their own risk. Of course, this would be people who either do not have a warranty or do not care about the warranty.

Just barely now. The first GTs were delivered in late August 2021. They arrived early. The bulk of the GTs though are coming up on a year old now.

Bro sell your car. Elements of the vehicle design can't handle the current for extended periods so that's why we see the limit. If you can't stand it, sell it. I agree it's annoying but it isn't going to change.

I may have gone with a Premium on my reservation if they had put the asterisk in there, or I may have stayed with a GT-PE. Hard to know now. I am just a little bent that they did not disclose and they seemed to tout the GT as a track car in so many press releases and videos. I was pretty committed to getting out of my Fusion Energi, so I would have gotten some flavor of MME. ?‍♂?

As @Mach-Lee said, the main bus bars are too small. The pack’s design goes back to the pre-Mustang design intent of the car. Ford didn’t start with a blank slate but their Marketing people sure played up the “Mustang” and “performance” aspects after they decided to call the car a Mustang instead of a Focus or a Fusion or whatever it was they were going to call it. I almost wish they didn’t have so much overboost and allowed 9 or 10 seconds on less power. ?‍♂?
They call the cars with unlimited full power availability... Premium RWD :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If Tesla can do it, then why can't Ford?
