I personally don’t fully understand the risk/benefit of ceramic or PPF coatings (aside from altering the cars appearance to a non stock color or finish) for protective reasons. The reason is I thought the coatings were supposed to be removed and reapplied every ?5 years and this process had a risk of damaging the underlying paint.

I agree, I plan to just get tint done but havent gotten pricing. My dealer said I should just find someone else and not go through the dealer since I was asking too many questions.

I'm in batch 008238 (#153) and my Ford vehicle status page says it's built and the estimated delivery is 10/16/2022 - 10/22/2022 (I'm in the Northeast). That almost seems too quick(?).

It seems quick for sure, maybe you will get lucky though. I think in the northeast the deliveries from kansas city have been fairly quick

"Too quick" is a good problem to have at this point... congrats!

based on my estimated time in status changing I expect my build will start Saturday or Sunday, Likely means they are about 3 or 4 days behind at this point.

We decided on ceramic for cosmetic purposes. The super gloss on our cyber orange will enhance that look, and we are not the best at frequent waxing (and washing for that matter). I haven't read anything about ceramic that deters me, though I did read some things about PPF that made me decide the benefit/risk ratio wasn't strong enough for me. But neither is necessary, IMO, and I don't believe strongly in either thing to try and convince other people to get it.

Anyone getting coatings, films or tinting immediately upon delivery? We've got our ceramic and window tinting shops contacted, and it will be super hard to give everything up for a few more days after all this waiting!

Yes, I've already contacted the dealer for quotes and want to get everything done before I pick it up. Going with full Xpel, ceramic coat and matching tint on front 2 windows. Like you, I can't imagine giving her up for a few days after I finally get it. I"d rather wait and take delivery when done.

I'm also having them take off the summer tires and replace with all seasons. Said they would give me full credit toward a different set of shoes.

Many of the PPF and vinyl wraps will last longer than that - all depends on how they were treated during that time ie. rock chips, door dings, automatic car washes etc. Nice thing with PPF is you can just replace the dinged up sections (Hood/Bumper) without redoing the whole car.

I would get it for cosmetic reasons for sure, I’ve seen some amazing looking ceramic coatings.

Added a column for any major status updates. And yes, at this point modules populating feels like a major update. Looks like batch 8238 is ripping through. Must be all those GTs in that group. ? I also resorted the batches so they are in a more sensible numerical order.

What are the downsides of PPF? We seem to have a lot of construction around not to mention gravel and salt in the winter time. PPF seems pretty common - I was planning to do it on the grill/hood/mirrors. Dealer quoted around $1,200.
