Curious about switching out the wheels as he recommends, if it improves handling and stopping I'd be interested if I'd only lose 10 mile of range.
Has anyone tried it?
Yes. Though it was right as it was getting cold so I can’t speak to the range loss. I put 245/50/19’s on. Can’t bark the tires around every corner by goosing it anymore. So the traction is way better. Handling and braking improved. Range…. ?

Lots of people. Look at the wheels and tires forum. I just switched to 245/55-R18s last week and handling is VASTLY improved.

You should be able to apply the 1.7.1 update via FDRS, I believe now you can actually do the 2.3.0 update via FDRS if its been released for your VIN - APIM and TCU.
Nope, it errors out if Sync is stuck at version ---. Which mine is. Now I admit I didn't try the "fix" wizard in fdrs as it specifically kicked up a warning NOT to use it unless instructed to do so. I figure it likely would work but could result in more of a brick at my fault instead of theirs...

Alex on Autos is a good VLOG but Alex has his own druthers when it comes to EVs that are debateable. For example, he doesn't like one pedal driving at all and many EV owners would disagree with him on that. He is also very fussy about tires on EVs with expectations I think are pretty different from most people. His VLOG is better than most and I respect his opinion, but I found Mach-E reviews from other plain folks to be more relevant and illuminating than his.
I love 1P driving, can't live without it....

Pretty honest assessment of the car, especially the "orphan" problem for early builds. Do folks think Alex is right about Ford getting the navigation system right? I barely use it, using Google Maps with Android Auto but for road trips, if it is reliable, it would save time and energy just using the onboard system versus ABRP and then adding stops to Google Maps.

No complaints from me on Ford navigation but only took one 1,000 mile trip with it. I'll never link a phone with my car, but if i need to double check something, i'll use the phone if i have it. BMW's i3 navigation was my previous one and is on par with Ford's so i don't see any difference really.

Probably also mentioned a lot but it’s late …. do you need new rims for that or do those fit on the existing ones? Thanks

He didn’t really have much bad to say about the car. It was just rude quality which he gave an A- I think for an EV. And then major complaint was being left behind in updates as an early adopter - that I can understand.

Pretty fair assessment he gave. If you watch to the bitter end; he really loves the car and hates to see it go. But it's part of his profession (can people really make a living doing this?) so off to the next one. He intimates it could be an F150 Lightning next!!!

My biggest beef if the stiff suspension. I would like to test drive the GT with the "alternate" suspension. Outside of that cooled seats is my only other wish.

I bought new rims. We’ll, used rims from someone who upgraded and then a week later decided to sell their Mach-E. So used, depreciated, and met my requirement to be frugal with my upgrades.

Factory rims on my premium are 7” wide. Which really shouldn’t get tires wider than 225’s. I’ve seen some people do 235’s on them. My new rims are 8.5”, so I could go as far as 255’s. But I figured I’d the GT’s came with 245’s, then that’s probably where I wanted to be.

I bought new 8” rims. Technically the tires said they would fit on the existing rims (if you have 18” rims) but I’m not sure how it would look.

What tire width do you have on the 8" rims? I am really debating getting wider tires but not sure what size wheel i would need to upgrade to.

Does your new tire look a lot wider than stock?

I put 245 width on, compared to the 225 stock tires. They look a lot wider from behind and handle a lot better. I went down to 18” wheels (my premium came with 19”) because I wanted a more comfortable ride. I’m sure handling would have been even better if I’d gone up to 20” like a lot of people have. Coming out of corners is significantly improved (we have a lot of roundabouts in my city so this matters to me haha).
