I love this mentality that 'because one MME shut down, therefore they all shut down'.

At this point you're someone that's keeping up your argument even though I'm pretty sure you understand it's not an argument worth having since you're the only one on your side. You just don't want to let down.

And your reasoning behind being 'right' is always really weak, like what you said above. "I see you have a Leaf too. Any issues with it shutting down. etc.? I presume not." So your argument is that literally no Leaf has ever stopped working ever, since the day of it's conception.

That type of reasoning is probably the weakest I've seen for a REALLY long time to keep up an argument about anything.

Just stop trying, we aren't here being hardcore MME supporters, we're here with realistic expectations and you're here keeping your side going by yourself because you don't want to let it go.

I don't know about that, man I get paid to troubleshoot cars...I didn't pay to do it on my time as well. Especially for someone else who is getting paid to fix it.

Guess I straddle the Stan Karen line. I have expectations that haven't been met but I'm moderately confident that in time they will be. I mean...no domestic automakers have reputations of leaving their customers holding the bag. Right?

I would hate to mention my car has an actual (minor) mechanical issue. Heads would explode.
That's certainly a reasonable perspective. You're not straddling the line to expect someone else to resolve those issues.

The issue stems from expecting there to be no issues.

But in the meantime we should be free to discuss concerns or issues we experience in the event someone else has had the same problem and resolved it, or know how to word the concern to the Service Writer, or help figure out a consistent way to reproduce the issue to avoid the "could not reproduce" scenario with a tech.

It's not helpful if we try to do that and then have to address folks concerned about their future car doing the same. That happens all the time...every forum...every car. Particularly bad when a brand new car is released and folks are anxious and nervous and potentially dealing with some buyer's regret. Coddling folks doesn't really help them or us...and certainly doesn't help folks like OP.

Poor guy's thread has gone to crap now.

It seems unlikely he will go away. I have elected to use the ignore button. It makes threads a little disjointed since I don't see his pointless posts, but it lowers my stress level. ;)

A few weeks ago I posed about a road trip I took and had horrible luck with charging.
https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/small-trip-bad-charging-experience.7306/

Yesterday I went on a drive to get out of the house since I had the day off. Decided to go over to Arkansas since I haven't really done much exploring around there.
The trip went great on the way there. Made better than expected efficiency, and a smooth trip. I stopped at the Electrify America stations in Rogers AR to charge up to go home. It was the free weekend still. Plugged in, and it went right to charging, They appear to have disabled plug and charge all together while it was free as it never went through that handshake. The charging session went great this time. Plugged in at 32%, and charged to 80% in 30 minutes with a max rate of 155kwh, and it stayed over 100kw through 65%

After the charging though is where my new issues began. I stopped the charging session after I hit 80% and 14kw. Unplugged, got in started the car and went to leave. After a few feet, I got a notice that One Pedal was no longer available, it worked for a few seconds and then just stopped after the popup came up. I pulled into a spot and restarted the car. This got one pedal back. However, I also lost all cruise control for the entire trip home. If you pushed any of the buttons it would just give me this popup.

I was not able to get this to go away, Stopped and reset the car and still couldn't get it back. This is the 2nd time this has happened after DCFC. You don't realize how much you rely on the cruise until you don't have it at all.
This used to happen with my Accord. Took it to the dealer, "it's probably a dirty sensor, maybe a bag got on it, did you restart the car..." It got so bad it was doing it 2 to 3 times / week. Eventually, 1-1/2 years later, Honda released a TSB (software issue), had to go to the dealer, had to tell the dealer about it but it hasn't happened since. No recall was ever issued and I doubt they've notified a single customer who didn't come in, like I did, with the TSB ready to go.

I completely agree, it massively sucks when 80% of your driving is ACC and it just dies on you while using it. Tesla's have their problems, a great many of them, but I suspect a problem like this would have been fixed much quicker than Honda did it.

It'll be interesting to see how Ford performs.

My main point on this is to document issues as they happen. Maybe use it as a place to point Ford if they dig into it.
Yes, this is how I found the TSB that fixed my Accord problem. Like I said, Honda was AFK at sending notifications to people, even people like me who had been to the dealer about it.

I've been lurking for a little while and it amazes me how fast "my car broke" posts bring out people who act like they're being personally attacked because someone else has a legitimate concern.

Amen
I'm a fitness guy, or at least pretend to be. I have a high end Garmin watch. I went on their forum, went down the list, HRM sensor does crazy stuff, VO2 makes no sense, headphones don't work with it (well, not when the watch is worn on the left wrist), podcasts come into the watch named wrong, strength workout app is a joke, and more.

The post that got the most upvotes was some wanker who attacked me and basically called me a whiner.

People take criticism of their babies very seriously. But, as a consumer, what else is there besides raising the issues or buying something else.

This is a good car, but there are legitimate issues around it: the dealer network, the charging infrastructure, that it's new means bonus problems, etc.

@benk016 Is cruise still unavailable today? I had a weird fault once that after sitting for a couple hours cleared itself. Sorry if you already said, but I didn’t see.

Just an FYI - Porsche just recalled all Taycans for a few that shut off while driving. The problem is with the 12V battery, not the main battery pack. Porsche consistently leads JD Power quality metrics. Yes, Porsche.
The NHTSA had received 9 complaints so far, 6 of which failed to restart. There are 43,000 Taycans worldwide right now.

I guess we'll take the Taycan off of Vaca's potential EV purchase list too. It's unfortunate. I'd assume Tesla's too since a couple of them have caught on fire from the batteries having issues. What are left with at this point? I guess the Leaf, since that one poster didn't say his Leaf has shut down on him, then again he just never replied to vaca as well so who knows.

Edit: lol ok so I guess they saw my post and chimed in afterwards. I guess the Leaf is on the table for Vaca then.

It gives me flashbacks to my days as a technician having to deal with unreasonable expectations/complaints. ;)

Nope. None so far. I bought the Leaf for my daughter who’s starting med school and has a very short commute. Works for her. It’s just a functional car and not a lot of fun.

Oh I know, working in IT it's part of the job. I think the reason I can stay with threads like this is because it's literally so beyond what would be reasonable that it's just laughable now. I've had over reacting Tesla fanboys make me angrier than this person, because it's kind of hard to take them seriously at all at this point.

Just be careful this forum doesn't start eating itself. There was a very nice Tesla forum they killed because the arguing over people wanting to post about issues, got stupid. If someone wants to point out an issue, really just shut the fuck up and let them. If you can help out or add something non-stupid, do it.
