With all due respect, that's not why you were called a Karen.

When speaking of a first model year vehicle, on an entirely new platform and first attempt at a dedicated EV as a competitor to a Tesla is a massive, massive undertaking. A statement of "I don't accept that they are supposed to be buggy and nobody should accept that either. " is both unrealistic and demanding.

We don't have to be happy with there being bugs and issues we have to work through...but we should be realistic in our expectation that there will be bugs and some troubleshooting to find where the quirks are, report them to dealers, and get them resolved for all of us.

If that's not something you can accept, you're not going to have a good time and we're not going to have a good time if we try and troubleshoot with other owners trying to work through these issues and have to sift through the whining about why someone is having an issue instead of getting to the root of the issue and getting it resolved.

Getting a STRONG stan vibe.

You say you know early EV adopters from 10 years ago and have yourself owned an EV for 6 years, but have never seen issues like you’ve seen here? Because maybe those people don’t join forums? Care to tell us how despite owning Teslas and apparently looking at automotive “forums,” you and your friends somehow avoided being made aware of Tesla’s legendary highest number of defects per unit that Tesla’s forums are littered with?

And have you really never seen yourself or heard of adaptive cruise control becoming disabled? In 2021? Those sensors have been around for decades now and have periodically become obstructed since they made their debut. It’s a super common problem.

As someone who has owned numerous autos myself, I have actually been super impressed with how few major issues have been reported this far. PaaK needs to be addressed obviously, but otherwise this launch has been an absolute success.

I'm not super upset about it. The car still drove, just had some convenience features not working. This time.

My main point on this is to document issues as they happen. Maybe use it as a place to point Ford if they dig into it.
Send the Ford Motor team here a direct message with the info. And perhaps an email to the Customer Experience executives at Ford.

I already have an active case on my Nav issues. I'm going to bring this up during my next call with Ford.

I have a model Y that’s about to be delivered, but I haven’t finished the last details because I love the Mach E. I had almost made up my mind to ditch my Tesla order in favor of the Mach E. This is tipping me over to going through with the Tesla purchase, expected build quality warts and all. A car should run. First priority. Frequent software glitches and loss of functionality doesn’t sound like fun and I can’t afford that with my busy lifestyle.

Ok.

Buy the Tesla then. It's why there are different car manufacturers for different people. Enjoy the Tesla and Tesla problems instead of Ford's with Ford problems.

if we try and troubleshoot with other owners
I don't know about that, man I get paid to troubleshoot cars...I didn't pay to do it on my time as well. Especially for someone else who is getting paid to fix it.

Guess I straddle the Stan Karen line. I have expectations that haven't been met but I'm moderately confident that in time they will be. I mean...no domestic automakers have reputations of leaving their customers holding the bag. Right?

I would hate to mention my car has an actual (minor) mechanical issue. Heads would explode.

No. You are being called out because you have purported the false equivalence that a collection of small nagging problems (paak, radio presets, etc) somehow morphs into a major failure. In terms of the true major issues a few owners have seen you also assert that "you have never seen" so many major problems with a new car launch - with absolutely no context or reference into your area of expertise. As an example, asserting that complex systems and software can be and are "perfect" is just silly.

Those whose cars have those problems are right and justified to be upset and complain about it. As someone with zero firsthand experience who is simply repeating what you've read and built up in your mind your opinion carries less weight.

Now you are building a straw man based on the pushback you've gotten here to both martyr yourself and denigrate the entire Mach E program with broad strokes.

A Karen is someone who is melodramatic, entitled, and unrealistic.

Bro, you’re not hearing everyone.

It is 100% unrealistic. Like I cannot express that enough. If you think there is ANY mass market current model year vehicle, ice or EV, that hasn’t ended up on a flat bed you’re deluding yourself, and is precisely why you’re being referred to as a Karen.

Note that any forum amplifies issues. People with problems natuarlly seek out information on the web and land in forums. Its a fact of life.

The net affect of that is: You read a forum and discover: "holy cow...look at all these issues that are happening". Keep in mind the happy people aren't posting, they are out driving.

Oh except for the ones that are posting here:

Like if you prefer the Model Y, nobody but the most devout here is going to get upset. Personally I had a Y ordered until initial reviews for the Mach E were released.

But if your “busy lifestyle” can’t afford glitches and loss of functionality?

Bro….

Hey there, go easy, bumpers falling off in heavy rain is a feature, not a defect.. ?

Idk, I’m 46 and have been active in many various car forums since I joined The Corral back in ‘94-95. Whether it’s Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Honda, or any other maker you care to list you will see problems, and, as noted by you and others, those problems are amplified in the forums. Then they can reach a fever pitch. Yes, many are real, however, the “echo chamber” add its effect.

For my SN95 Gen 1995 Mustang GT it was the AOD-E transmissions slipping due to a torque convertor issue over at corral.net
For my ‘98 Z-28 it was “Piston slap” and “bent pushrods” over at ls1.com circa ‘98-00.
For our 2000 Maxima it was faulty mass air flow sensors and an auto trans valve body issue on maxima.org. Ours was great for 3.5 years.
For our 2007 Honda Accord it was shift quality issues with the 5-sp automatic and some A/C issue on the Accord forums. We had zero issues in 99K miles.
For my 2012 Mustang GT/CS it was the crappy build quality of the Getrag MT-82 manual transmission on corral.net and mustang5g.com. That one currently has a class-action lawsuit going. Guess what? Mine shifted great and I beat on it and also had a Ford Racing tune, cold air and GT-500 exhaust on it.
You get the idea. The Mach E forum is going to be a dumping ground for owners with problems, some major, some minor, some in between. They will be very vocal and it will scare others off in some cases, that is ok. If you are scared, wait until the 2nd or 3rd MY to get a Mach E, or, whatever else comes along that fits the bill.
