There is an update regarding powertrain recall and I can't install it.
My battery is 85% and have it plugged in. It has failed for a few days now.
Other updates had "update now" button, but it's missing for this update.

This is telling you the 12v battery is too low to complete the update. Let the car run for about 2 hours by driving or just sitting running so it can charge the battery up and then it should complete as expected.

I got this exact message when it tried to update last month. 12V battery was low because I was not driving much. Put the LVB on a charger overnight, manually restarted the update, and it completed fine.

Okay, I think I need a new battery.
The battery was 11.6V at the start. I started charging it and It charged to full in 2 minutes.
I tried to update while it was charging, but It still said "battery too low."

Make sure you're charging the battery either disconnected from the truck, or south of the BMS sensor. But a 2021 is probably due, it can be load tested.

I would say do not manually start the update, let it install automatically at the scheduled time. Allowing the scheduled update to proceed will pre-charge the 12V battery. Leave the car completely unplugged for this update, and do not wake or otherwise disturb the car for at least three hours ahead of the scheduled update time (10 p.m.) so it can precharge.

If the update still fails at the scheduled time, you may need to replace the 12 V battery in order to continue receiving OTA’s. It may be too weak. Have you received a “Check 12 V battery” message in the Ford app recently?

As a temporary solution, I added another car battery in parallel, and it managed to complete the software update.

If you are still on your original 12V battery, get it replaced. Like nowish. They fail without much warning on EVs, and it is significantly less hassle to replace it a few months early than a day late.

If you've replaced a battery in your lawn mower, you can do it.
did you see the original official Ford procedure he pointed too? It’s not quite normal. 😆
