CCS to NACS

I have seen the the uptime of tesla superchargers and its unbeatable. But does anyone reckon if they provide consistent high speeds for charging?

The few SC I have used with my Model Y peak near 200kW and drop to ~80kW at 80%...

I am expecting my MME to get all the charge it calls for... unlike a lot of the CCS chargers.

Nonsense, if you can drive a car, you can be trained for proper firearm ownership / handling. It's pretty simple to follow / understand. I grew up in a town where firearm ownership is to this day, mandated by law.

I was kidding ? I’ve actually been pistol target shooting with a friend at a range in town. It was sort of fun, but definitely not compelling enough to make an investment in it. I’ll spend my money on travel ?

But Ford's can charge only to 150 kw at present. Is cooling still going to be as much of a problem for 150 kw cars compared to higher power cars? The answer could be to provide an adapter which can handle 150 kw's easily while still working on higher power adapters.

The adapter has no idea of the KW. The current (amps) determines the capacity. V3s are rated at 425A max, so the adapter will need to handle that. At a nominal 350V, our cars will max out at 150KW.
EA 350s can supply 500A. I’ve seen 163 KW initially on one.

I am pretty sure mine has hit 170 kW briefly. But it quickly drops down to 150 and below.

If proven safe with my car, I would use the extension cable every time I use a SC to avoid taking up two spaces.

Your car communicates what amount of power it wants from the charger at any given point via the charging cable. This ends up being your charging curve.

There is no reason at all that an adapter (or extension cable) with a chip in it cannot intercept that and communicate a lower level back up To the charger

V3s are rated at 625A, but no CCS cars today request more than 500A. The Magic Docks are limited to 350A. A portable adapter could be able to handle 500A, because it will have plenty of time to cool off between uses. When a Magic Dock is used, once unplugged, another car could immediately plug in and use it.

Interesting thought about the cooling between uses. I wonder if they could build the portable adapter combined with some kind of pigtail that also solves the short cable / wrong side issue. Even if it was 350A limited like the magic dock, I would still buy one.

No one knows quite what the output of V4s will be. No one has been able to check one out yet. So far all the V4 installations are V4 dispensers attached to V3 power units.

The only way to get 250W at 400V is to have 625A.

The new official NACS connector is rated for 1000V and 625A. But the V4 power is likely to be less than that combination.

The MW chargers are not using that connector. There have been CCS chargers tested up to 700kw. I believe Delta has a 400kw unit in service.
