There, I fixed the instructions: ?

How To Use Charge Assist:

Navigating to a Public Charger:

  1. Select Home button
  2. Tap Charge Assist
  3. Pull over on the side of the interstate
  4. Adjust filters if desired then tap charger location for details
  5. Click the distance button to navigate to charger.
  6. Merge back onto the interstate
  7. Once you are at the charging location, click I’m Here Now
Assuming the charger you pick is on your way, because as ChargeAssist stands, you see a list of chargers and distances….. and that’s it.
- You may pick the closest one, BUT, it’s in the opposite direction from your destination.
- You may pick the second closest one, BUT, it may also be a different direction from your destination.
- The third on the list? What are the odds? We’re taking bets now.

I like the status, availability, activation, and payment functions of ChargeAssist, but it needs to be built into the NAV system. That may require licensing and integration with the HERE maps system, but they already did it once with the BlueOval locations. They can do it again.
Or….maybe they’re waiting for Android Automotive to integrate it with Google Maps.

Has anyone NOT in EA seen this added to their vehicle since this was posted?

One of the reasons Ford is pushing Charge Assist is probably in anticipation of the opening of Tesla SuperChargers.
Ford announced that we would not need the Tesla app to charge. Everything should be done directly in Ford Pass. By adding Charge Assist, it gives one more option to avoid using the Tesla app.

I wonder if it would be same full cost as today for EA and EVGo.

Tesla pricing is location-dependent and in some places uses time of day pricing. Check the Tesla app (or maybe PlugShare) to find out pricing.

I got it immediately.
Still waiting. That's just how this goes, it seems. I'll probably head out to my car after work and it'll be there after writing this.

I hope that by the time we get Tesla superchargers, we have refreshed UIs in all the apps on the car currently. It’s a big ask, but the car needs it.

What I didn't like about it when testing was that it felt like a web app that was put into the UI. Didn't seem well integrated in that way and couldn't use while moving. Really should be part of the Navigation app and be seamless. Should also include the discounts that memberships provide for certain charging providers. Feels really not fleshed out with the intent that they just get some basic going and in 5 years fix it to be seamless.

The chance of that happening is about 0.0001%

I got 5.1.1 last week and don't have Charge Assist yet. For me, I think it would only be useful for L2 chargers, since they do not support P&C or Autocharge+. Even then I have some doubts. I tried using Fordpass once to initiate on ChargePoint L2, and it didn't work. I also tried it once on an EVConnect DCFC and no joy.

Hi Owners – Charging is about to get even better with another way to activate your charge experience!

Now, with Charge Assist, soon to be known as Public Charging, you will be able to search for and start a public charging session on the BlueOval® Charge Network right from your vehicle’s touchscreen. The best part? You now have the option to use either the vehicle’s touchscreen or the FordPass App on your phone to charge your car and complete a payment. This is especially helpful if you need to lend your car to a friend!

You will also be able to filter charging stations by charging speed and network and have a more seamless way to receive real-time information on new chargers, like availability and those in-repair all from inside your vehicle.

Just like you could before, you can still use the FordPass App – we are just giving you more choices for how you charge. As a reminder, the BlueOval Charge Network, North America’s largest public charging network by an automaker, is a “network of networks” that provides Ford EV drivers with access to a variety of charging providers without the need for multiple apps and memberships. Charging providers currently include Shell Recharge Solutions, Electrify America, EVgo, ChargePoint, FLO, Blink, EV Connect, and Electric Circuit, with more on the way.

If you aren’t enrolled in BlueOval Charge Network no problem. You will see a QR code on the screen that will prompt you to enroll.

Below is a guide of how to use the new feature and you can find more information here. Let us know what you think!

How To Use Charge Assist:

Navigating to a Public Charger:

  1. Select Home button
  2. Tap Charge Assist
  3. Adjust filters if desired then tap charger location for details
  4. Click the distance button to navigate to charger. Once you are at the charging location, click I’m Here Now

Start a Charging Session:
  1. Select Home button
  2. Tap Charge Assist
  3. Match charging stall name to the one you are parked at and click Activate
  4. Plug in the charger once you see the prompt change
  5. Charging will begin! When the blue bar reaches desired state of charge press stop
  6. Unplug the charger one the prompt appears
I think you're trying to highlight how much easier than this will be, but your instructions and myriad of branded terms leave me even more confused.
