Hi - I have read a few threads that are older on this topic, mostly from before the Mach-e was available. I know several people have tried both and even own both.

I am considering the GT and the I-Pace and would love any experiences and feedback people have that might help guide my decision? The money difference isnt a major issue for me, assuming there are reasons to spend more for the I-Pace.

I know they are both great cars so am not looking to start a flaming discussion, but definitely appreciate any informed feedback people might have....thank you!

Wow, there's a car I haven't heard mentioned I quite a while. Aside from the performance and range numbers everything is going to come down to personal preference. The dealer experience is likely going to be very different between Jag and Ford. I see you currently have an Acura. If you like that level of service you will be happier with the Jag.

Not so sure he'll like the Jag service lol. I have a Range Rover Sport and it's okay but not as good as BMW or Mercedes. Definitely better then ford though. Lexus is very good also.

What differences do people see? We are mainly a Ford family, but my wife has a 2019 Mini (BMW) we bought new. I can't think of any significant differences in the dealership experience - other than BMW service being more expensive.

Luxury dealerships typically have nicer furnishings and amenities. I have always found it much easier to get a loaner. The staff is usually more polished and attentive. Shorter timeline to get an appointment. YMMV.

I currently drive an I-Pace. I have a GT on order. While I have never driven a GT, I can tell you what I’m looking forward to vs. the Jaguar. The GT should have a little more range, faster charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, Blue Cruise, and it will be a faster car as well, at least 0-60. I also think the GT is way better looking. The Jaguar has a nicer and more luxurious interior in my opinion but I’m ok with giving that up. I’m going to miss the cooled seats though. Also the infotainment in the Jag is pretty terrible in my opinion and I think it will be much better in the Mustang.

Really helpful perspective thank you.
I know you haven't driven the GT but have you tried the premium model?
Curious on your thoughts on seat comfort between mache and ipace...

The biggest thing with Jaguar service is, because they sell comparatively slow compared to their competitors and have a bad reputation for unreliable cars (though I really don’t think this is fair for modern Jaguars), the company includes an extremely long complimentary service plan on every single car they sell - it is for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, and is called Jaguar EliteCare.

In contrast, Land Rover, which is the same company, sells extremely well by comparison, and shares basically the same powertrains between the two brands, gets absolutely no complimentary service included.

But this gets you less on a BEV, which has less service needs. I believe for I-Pace the service interval is only every two years or 21,000 miles.

Also, like @BMT1071 said, the inside of the dealership is nicer, and more importantly, I think they always get you a loaner whether there for service or warranty.

Going to OP’s question, note that the I-Pace got a stealth price reduction for 2022. It used to have three trims, S, SE, and HSE. Jaguar got rid of the S and SE for 2022, but kept the starting price the same. But this time, all 2022 Jaguars are basically the fully-loaded HSEs for the same starting price. Something to consider, this trim has the napa leather seats which Jaguar calls Windsor leather.

I currently own an I Pace. HSE. 2020. Purchased in Feb 2020. I also have a Mache GT on order with an Oct 9 delivery date. The ipace is by far the best car we have ever owned. It gets approximately 250 miles per charge and will snap you neck off on acceleration. It is however approx twice the price of an entry level Mache. The ipace had a very elegant interior. The triple displays are great and divide up the tasks. The leather in the Ipace is extremely nice. We have the heads up display which is great since we also have that on our corvette. The fit and finish is second to none. The draw backs are that we must now deal with an English company many hrs difference from the US. We had an sit conditioner issue issue which took some time to fix. They needed 2 bolts which took a weeks to get. Overall the Ioace is pure luxury. It’s air suspension lets you off road with 10 in of clearance. It lowers itself to 3 in to get in and out. Lots of little things not on the Mache GT

IF the mache GT was available last year I would have bought that instead at s as lower price without all the luxury even though it great to have. We are now interested in adding a kick but car the MacheGT to our collection. It is by far a more sporty car with handling on par with the Ipace but with much better acceleration and braking.

I know it’s a hard choice since they look similar and are about the same size. The MACH E has a much bigger Frunk. The I pace Frunk is almost useless. It’s hard to give advice when I will own both but like I said. If the MachE GT was available a year ago it would have been my choice at 20k lower in cost. Hope this gives you some insight.

I visit my Lexus dealer maybe once every three years, so this is not a big issue for me. Their coffee maker was pretty good...

Good point on the warranty. Ford is 3/36 bumper to bumper. Most of the luxury brands are 4/50 or better. Not sure about Jag. The complimentary maintenance is not of much value on an EV.

The I-PACE mostly charges at about the same ~100kW rate as the Mach-E. How's your experience been with DC fast charging on road trips and how long do you typically charge (and to what %)?

I test drove a Premium Mach E for about 15 minutes. Hard to really compare them to the Jag with that little time. I will say the Jaguars seats are very comfortable, I have no issues with them.

Ultimately I love the I Pace. It is stupid fast, incredibly smooth and quiet and I enjoy every minute in it. If my GT fell off of the train in Mexico and I never got it I would be very pleased keeping the Jag.

I’m looking forward to the upgrades that I mentioned above, but I would by lying if I didn’t say that part of me is a little nervous that I won’t enjoy the Mach E as much.

My car is older so it only has the 7kw onboard charger vs the 11kw that you can get now so the level 2 charging takes quite some time.

The car is my daily driver / commute car, we take the family car on road trips so I have never fast charged it. Sorry I can’t provide more insight there!

I have had my GT for about a month now, and as my prior car was an I-PACE I have enough experience to compare the two cars now.

Pros for Mach-E:

Infotainment - This is the biggest one for me. The infotainment system in the Mustang is the best I have ever used in a car. Everything is well presented, and it is so easy to quickly pop between music, apple car play (I use this a ton), and everything else. Compared to the Jaguar where nothing is that intuitive to the point where I rarely used the system because it would take me so long just to change a radio station.

Seats - This is of course subjective, but I find the seats more comfortable in the Mustang than the Jaguar. The Jag's seats are nice, and they are ventilated which I miss, I just prefer the feeling of the GT seats.

Looks - The most subjective category of all, but I love the look of the GT in Grabber Blue. The Jag is nice, and I got plenty of comments on the looks of it over time, but it just doesn't stand out like the Mustang does.

Ergonomics - All of the little bins and cubbies in the Mustang just seem better thought out to me, and there is more space for my stuff.

Price - I know OP mentioned that he wasn't concerned about price, but as I compare the cars I have to keep in mind that the Mustang is in fact cheaper than the Jag.

GOM/Range - The GOM on the Jag always seemed agressive to me. It would say 254 miles every time I would charge up. Then I could drive 60 miles, and easily lose 80-90 miles of range, which did cause me some range anxiety from time to time. The Mustang GOM seems much more realistic/conservative to me, which I would prefer. Even if it shows less miles, I feel pretty confident that the car is actually going to be able to make the distance that the GOM says.

Pros For Jaguar:

Ride - The Jaguar rides much better. The adaptive suspension means that I could have the car as sporty or comfortable as I wanted. Now keep in mind I have a standard GT, not the GTPE, so maybe the performance version fixes this, but I do find the ride on the GT to be pretty stiff.

Interior - The Jaguar has a nicer interior. It is more upscale, and has more luxury touches and finishes. I think the Mustang interior is great, but it certainly isn't as luxurious as the Jag.

ACC - I never had any issues with the automatic cruise control in the Jag. It would do a great job in traffic and at speed keeping centered in its lane. I have had more issues with Blue Cruise though, times where the system would make me nervous where I just can't trust it and rarely use it right now.

So there is to me the biggest differences between the two cars. Ultimately, they are quite similar. Fairly expensive (to me at least), AWD, BEV, compact SUVs. The performance of the two is pretty comparable in terms of acceleration and handling, at least the feeling from the seat of my pants. I think both are great cars, but if I had to choose between the two (especially factoring in price) I would take the Mustang. It looks better, has more features, and just feels like a more modern version of the I-PACE. I don't think you can go wrong with either car, but I will be a Mustang guy for a while at this point. I absolutely love the car and think Ford knocked it out of the park.
