My car has been in the shop for close to three weeks after the second failure. Build date was the week after Jun 18, but the parking pawl was destroyed and the issues described here (e.g., ratcheting noise, stop safely, etc.) appeared just before this self-destructed. Rear motor replaced, control module replaced, I just sent this TSB to the service manager. They say they are doing test driving today, I told him not to rush it which they did the first time this happened.

Check out this thread if you are interested in making the investment. I am the kind of person who likes to do this kind of thing, but I am not sure I am going to do it myself. It is not without risks. Nobody wants to brick their car! (Although that risk is low, so they say. ;-))

Out of curiosity, how long did it take in the end. I’m bringing mine in soon and I’m planning on waiting.

Shortly after the 2hrs it was done. The 1.3hr in the paper work seems optimistic.

If the mechanic does nothing but sit by the laptop for the entire process (at least for me, I had to click through and update each module manually), I'd say 1.3-1.5 hours is doable, assuming they don't have crappy internet. Otherwise, it could easily balloon to over 2 hours.

FYI: I've been watching this thread over a week; just called the dealer (service) and they had no idea. I gave her the 21P22 number and she said "oh my that's a recall, we had no idea". She was happy to schedule an appt for me tmw.

I just made an appointment for the glass recalls, and when the scheduler looked up my VIN, she saw the software update notice right away and said they would do that also. I've already updated everything myself except the door control modules since they kept failing. Maybe they'll have better luck with those.

I brought my MME-FE in for 21B02 and while doing it they discovered 21P22 and applied that as well. All in it was about 90 minutes. I originally made the appointment for the glass recalls but they said they were still trying to work out the logistics for that since it won't be done in-house.

I have not had a chance to try DCFC charging yet as that is something I don't often do. I was expecting to see the "Frunk" button appear in the app and on the "Access" screen but neither place has it. But I'm sure that's another thread.

Any chance to find out whether my car in the dealership for other work qualifies for the update? I asked them to check, but they're telling me to come pick it up without any update. I did give them the 21P22 updates code.

No, your build date is Aug 29th, which after the June 18th cutoff date for this program.
