My recollection was the super-capacitor was so someone could get out of the car if there was no power to open the doors.
No, there's a mechanical linkage on the front door inside handles if you pull past the electric triggering point. The super-capacitor was supposed to be for opening the door from the outside with a dead LVB. But we've seen no evidence that it really exists or that it works.

Back in Nov/Dec 2019, someone from Ford (Darren Palmer?) implied there wasn't a mechanical linkage in the rear doors, but the super-capacitors would supply power for them. There were lots of discussion on the forum about it as a safety issue.

Is anyone else having an issue with their Mach E not following it's departure time schedule? Meaning, I have mine set up to depart at 6:15 am, M-F...when I go out to the car at 6:20, nothing has ran or started and the car is still freezing cold. This is while it is plugged in to the charger from overnight charging.
Try not plugged in when setting up schedules in sync and/or the app. I think it may not set it if currently in a charging session where you are setting the schedules up but never got to the final test.

Not everyone. I believe the OP said they had to jump it just to get into the car. But I guess that also answers the question.
Yeah we have heard both - so comes down to how low the battery is and if its too low, no access to doors

It would be easy enough to test by disconnecting the LVB. At least it would be if they didn't make it so difficult to reach the LVB to disconnect.

There's a mechanical linkage in the front doors but not the back.

Good news: I spoke with a member of the Ford engineering team. They believe that the software package in the newer cars eliminates this problem and mine will be getting this upgrade. They are working toward having this available as an OTA update for those cars potentially affected. Since they don't have it ready as an OTA yet, they are loading it on Marlin by wire. They are also installing some enhanced data collection to monitor it. Ford hopes to have Marlin ready for me to pick up this afternoon. ?

I also raised the issue that we need easier access to the jump connector points. They are considering that as well -- no promises.
Wonder what counts as a “newer“ car. I was built last week December. Sat in Mexico (for QA?, this issue, ?) until last week. Wonder if dealers will ensure this is all updated or if they’ll wait for it to break?

I had this exact same issue in Minnesota yesterday. Couldn’t get the car to start on Monday night so I had to leave it at the restaurant I was at, but did get it to start yesterday morning. Got it about halfway home (I only live 3 miles from where the car was at) and it completely died will driving. 4 hours of waiting for Ford Rodside later, and finding out that the tow service had canceled the request without telling me, I finally got somebody to tow the car on my own. It’s back at the dealership getting looked at right now. Very disappointed in Ford Roadside, and hope that they can figure out the issues with the car in the cold.
You're situation gives me anxiety. I feel for you. I personally had my Fusion Hybrid go dead in the middle of an intersection, mid turning. It was devastating especially since I was out of state.

Mine was a first year model as well. I'm hoping you are VERY WELL taken care of.

Specifically a keyed entry point. The whole process of keeping a charger/jump box for 12V problems becomes waaaay simpler if you can get into the car without any power. Hard to believe that they saved much $ by deleting a keyed entry but adding the relay/bumper wiring, so maybe it was "look how cool" !
You can see the problem once you go with the push button doors. Unclear how a mechanical key would work. If there are capacitors then I'm good. Assuming the frunk opener is mechanical, which I've been assuming, then once you can get in the vehicle you're set.

The more I think about this issue, the more I think it's related simply to the fact that there may have been insufficient testing of long term parking, without being attached to a charger. It's quite likely that the long wait sitting in the parking lot outside the factory is the first time it's been tested in any significant numbers. The weather in Cuautitlan got down to the high 30's the last few days of December. I wonder if any cars in the lot started to see excess LVB drainage without being topped up by the DC-DC.

Mine was also built on Jan 9. I took delivery Feb 9. It has been flawless (even while temps have been at or below 0 F every day since I got it). I love it. Once you join the "Built on the 9th" owners' club, you will love yours also.
Yep I'll join the Build on the 9th club has soon has mine arrive ETA March 5th is so far away

Thats great news - I am not sure what they mean by newer cars - Feb 1 and beyond build dates? I hope they get the engineers to do this upgrade for the others that seem to have similar issues too.
I suspect now that dealers will be alerted and in there prep they will upgrade whatever software needs to be done.
