Got it, not what I was asking or caring about
Are you asking if the remote start button on the escape fob would pop the frunk if the escape fob was paired with the Mach E? (I'm curious if that would work too)

Now Ford just has to push the OTA for those of us who can’t upgrade our cars ourselves ?
No one should have to run FDRS themselves to get this or any other feature update. I'm going to go stand in this corner here, stomp my feet and hold my breath until I get a remote release frunk. It'll happen soon™, you'll see. :p

Hmm, my dealer is telling me that NL3Z-15K601-B is the correct part # (I gave them the VIN for a Lightning Lariat).

Hey, I used the frunk button in FP today! It took me so much longer than just walking up to the car, opening the door, and pulling the release handle twice. But still! I did it!

I know some people with unique use cases need it , but for the average Mike, it is pretty useless. However, on a FOB that I carry around? That is totally cool and I think I would use that a lot. If I carried a FOB.

As someone else posted, a frunk and hatch button almost makes me think about carrying a FOB again. Almost.

Yes -- the Escape remote costs only $60 and is readily available .... the Lightning one is OOS at the one discount online place that seems to have it, otherwise it's $200 at a dealer for the part only.

Exactly -- except not willing to pay $200 for one fob.

It can't. The fobs with remote start won't work on vehicles without remote start. He was just asking about moving the physical hatch button to the Lightning remote so that the picture is correct.

Noticed that the “recall” for job 1 cars to get the second fob came up in the widget the other day, still hoping they change over the part to add the frunk button as I want to order one under the program. Of course I need a working frunk button (can’t make it to Vermont) but this option looks good should ford decide not to surprise me in a good way.

This has been tested using a '21 build date Job 1 car that's up-to-date to include the most recent BCM and GFM updates which enable the frunk to be opened using the door keypad.

I purchased a Lightning key fob (PN NL3T-15K601-EB or Ford 164R8304) and using the two key fobs I already had programmed, I followed the instructions from the owner's manual (found also here ) and now have a key fob with a working frunk button.

Fobs are available at the Ford parts counter or a lot cheaper at keylessentryremotefob dot com Direct link to the correct fob here.

EDIT: When doing the programming, if it doesn't work by following the instructions to have all doors closed....open the driver's door and try it again. I think the instructions may be wrong on that point.
Interesting...just left a second dealer who told me NL3T-15K601-EB is not a valid part #. He even flipped the screen around and showed me.

They said they wouldn't let me return the fob if it didn't work (not my VIN) and I already have 3 fobs programmed for my vehicle so I'm going to wait just a bit before programming a fourth (max that can be programmed).

22B10 calls out a very specific part number that the dealer is to order to fulfill that program. It's likely the same fob you probably have now.

Ford Mustang Mach-E DIY: Key Fob with Frunk Button ! 22B10_fob_164-R8319

The Lightning fob part number I got directly off the fob I got from my dealer's part man.

There are three different numbers depending on where you look. NL3T-15K601-EB is the entire Lightning fob with the uncut blade. You can order it without the blade (backup key) and just use the one you already have cut...and that would be the same part number but ending in an -EC instead. Ford also uses another part number for the same item and it is a Rotunda part# 164-R8304 (or run together 164R8304).

And then there's the FCC ID Number that was registered by Continental Automotive Systems (the same people who make tires make car security and engine immobilizer systems). And the FCC ID for this key fob is M3N-A3C054338. I saw where somebody posted that their dealer's parts guy said it wasn't valid....well that's where I got mine, from my dealer's parts guy using Fordpass points. So I know the number's good.

These are the actual stickers from the back of the fobs when I got them:

Both of my FOBs keys are blank.

Should they be cut and where is there a key slot on the car?

There isn't a key slot. It serves no purpose.

That’s what I thought.
I don’t use the FOB unless I go in for service.
Thanks

What’s the point of a fob with a Frunk button when you have to double pull a lever to open the Frunk? Thumb exercise? ;)
I'm going to pretend you actually were curious for an answer, but could just be you were having fun. Thus sorry in advance if what I'm about to say is stuff you already clearly know.

It's kinda like why there's a "kick to open" on hatchback tailgates, walking with stuff, want to open frunk and put stuff in it. Using phone with Ford Pass is cumbersome (all the steps to get to the app), alternatively, opening driver's door, crouching down, yank yank etc while balancing holding stuff etc still not great.

Right now maybe typing on the B pillar is easiest? Could be simpler than fob in fact, but could do fob at a convenient moment as approaching, which could make fob superior to B pillar. Best might be "kick to open" for frunk, just like tailgate. Button on fob might make it easy enough that we started actually regularly USING the frunk.

IMO: Right now it would be not only convenient to use the frunk BUT cooler than tailgate too. Everyone has the tailgate hatchback, only a few have a nice frunk.

Yes. Most of us don’t have access to FDRS. That means waiting for Ford to update 2021 job 1 cars to have a remote release Frunk. If they decide to do it. That also makes the talk about various options, including fob “hacks” rather moot.
