There are a ton of prior threads on this. You have to pick between "Team CPR" (drop gently to first latch, then press) and "Team Light Slammer".
...

Take care with the hood panel, though--it isn't beefy and seems like it would easily dent in with an improperly positioned CPR-style stroke.
I rather enjoy slamming the frunk hood. I find it cathartic. ?

And while I agree that if you're on Team CPR you need to be careful about possibly denting the hood, the MME hood feels like 1/8" steel compared to the Tesla M3 hood. That thing is flimsy, has zero padding/sound deadening, and would certainly dent (outwardly) if your grocery bag included a bottle of wine or such...

Or a 12 pack of a really good IPA.

Not to derail this thread but the comments about opening and closing the frunk made me think about a visit to the Lucid Air showroom in a high end mall near me a few weeks ago. I watched them open and close the frunk on the Dream edition. The frunk is motorized so no need to manually open it or slam it shut. Impressive. Apparently the hardware is quite pricey which is why this won’t be available on the lower trim models.

There's a setting in the APIM that prevents the frunk from opening if the car is moving.

Strangely, the Lightning has the same setting but for some reason it's allowed to open if the truck is moving slower than 3Kph, don't ask me why there's a difference, or why that would be a good thing.

But just because you asked, I'm going to go out and try it right now.
And I did try using the fob button while doing about 10Mph...nothing. Not even an error message. The BCM just ignored the button presses completely.

So kinda like a Lightning then, but not as sexy or as fast I'm sure.

I received my Lightning fob today. Took about 10 seconds to program it and another 10 seconds to swap the back cover and trunk button I had from an ICE Mustang fob. The trunk button picture still isn't right since it shows a sedan, not a hatchback, but it's better than a pickup truck tailgate.

I switched the trunk button to the correct hatchback button. But I'm not sure which one I like better.

@generaltso, Though neither are quite accurate for a CUV, I like the first one better—for what that’s worth. I guess I’ll just keep waiting for the day I could open the frunk with my AppleWatch.

I have both buttons, too. I think the trunk looks better, personally.

I may be with you both on that. Maybe I'll just switch back and forth every other week. ?

How would you like a F-150 with that front trunk icon? ?

if anyone is wondering about the Amazon replacement shells, they seem to be high quality. Side by side, I can’t tell a difference from OEM other than the battery cover.
